About Me
The Autonomous Assembly of Working People (A.A.W.P) is an autonomous organization of workers -- meaning its very existence and the authority it commands is the collective will of its proletarian members. The A.A.W.P. is an uncentralized, directly democratic organization, created by its working class members out of the very class struggle which violated Lisa Reed's constitutional rights and cast her into a cold jail cell, and would've almost certainly crushed Plug-A-Palooza were it not for the unity of its defenders; the founding workers of
THE AUTONOMOUS ASSEMBLY OF WORKING PEOPLE!On Tuesday March 20th, 2007, Epiphany Music was slapped with a Cease and Desist Order of All Entertainment which was signed by Eric Major, a fire inspector who repeatedly inspected the building and each time concluded they weren't adhering to the city's fire safety codes. It is now known that these "fire safety codes" were fabricated by the Santa Rosa Fire Department (SRFD). In the days following, Lisa Reed -- the owner of the store -- was arrested and charged by the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) when they demanded entry without a warrant; violating the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. She was bailed out that very night, and so again the hired thugs of capital arrested her the following day, this time with the help of Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) -- a regional, clandestinely controlled, government sponsored utilities monopoly -- who were more than happy to pubicly claim she was stealing electricity with absolutely no evidence at all and Condemn the building. Having officially broken the First and Fourth Amendments of the constitution, shutting down the venue, the local bourgeois and their pigs in the stable laughed with glee and went to bed thinking Plug-A-Palooza, a semi-annual punk-fest, was silenced and sunk along with the working class youth that created it. The Press Democrat -- which had printed an article almost immediately after Lisa was arrested, dismissing her arrest and confirming that the police were of course in the right, especially considering that PG&E confirmed it without even releasing a shred of evidence to the authorities, let alone the public -- turned from focussing on making the scene, Epiphany Music and Lisa Reed look like the scum of Santa Rosa, to completely ignoring the developing situation...On Friday March 23rd, 2007, Santa Rosa's working class youth awoke to discover Plug-A-Palooza, the pinnacle presentation of Santa Rosa's working class musicians hosted by Epiphany Music, had been shut down along with the entire store. The one venue that not only allowed them to freely express themselves, but actually keep the product of their labor, since the bands allowed the venue to keep the money needed to maintain its venue status, was plastered with Condemned Building notices. Most venue's would've actually charged the bands that played just to have the show, but not Epiphany. After losing Magnolia, The Pound, Jessie Jean's, Clo's Parkside Grill, and coming close to losing the Phoenix dozens of times, the working class youth shouted to the United States and the Santa Rosa City Council:That's right! They said, "HEY! These floors are DIRTY as HELL!! AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!" And they peacefully assembled in front of Epiphany Music in defense of Lisa Reed's civil rights, made signs of cardboard, started shouting at the establishment, the people, the world, anyone who would listen! They expropriated the corporate police state appropriated venue, plugged into a PA system, and played PROTEST-A-PALOOZA! They, the working class youth, spontaneously of their own will, united as a social class and for the first time in Santa Rosa, said "NO!" to the SRPD, the SRFD, the Santa Rosa City Council, the United States, Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr. & Jr., the bourgeois dictatorship they created, and formedTHE AUTONOMOUS ASSEMBLY OF WORKING PEOPLE!!!!!The A.A.W.P. was borne out of this small situation, but in order for Epiphany music and the organization itself to survive, it must proliferate not only amongst the working class youth, but the working class as a whole! Please, ask yourself these questions; do you write and sign checks? Do you own your own business? Do you work for someone you hardly see or a board of directors you've never even met? If, in fact, you're on the other side of this coin and work for a wage, then please, fight for yourself and your comrades and join the A.A.W.P.! The only requirement is your membership card; a pay-stub!Our short term objectives are to officially unite in the near future to help Annie and Lisa keep Epiphany Music and the venue itself open, play shows, support the local working class, and declare permanent revolution; fight for Epiphany until it is completely unthreatened and advance the Power of the Proletariat! Soon we will also start the youth wing of the A.A.W.P. -- The Autonomous Assembly of Student Workers (A.A.S.W.) -- and a political wing -- the Revolutionary Democratic Workers Party (R.D.W.P.) -- to fight back against the Santa Rosa City Council in the bourgeois political arena. We can build a better world, together!WORKERS OF THE WORLD UNITE!!!
