Music, New York City history, vintage horsehide jackets, art deco rings, and people who have strong opinions and aren't afraid to voice them.
Those who don't take themselves too seriously.......Those who notice the absurdities and humor in the random nature of people and life.
Sugarbomb, the Clash, the Ramones, the Merrymakers, Patty Griffin, Ben Folds, the Beatles, Pre-1993 hip hop, My Favorite, the Candybutchers, Richard X. Heyman, Weezer, Motown, Morrissey, the Smiths, They Might Be Giants, Brave Combo, El Vez, Super Deluxe, the Sundays, Sly & the Family Stone, Robyn Hitchcock, Sam Phillips, Ok Go, Me First & the Gimme Gimmes, Keane, Fountains of Wayne, Ivy, the Housemartins, Dr. Didg, Dar Williams, this list could go on forever.........Oh, and I am also a closet Deadhead.
I'm not a fan of movies, but will see anything that Alexander Payne, the Coen Brothers or Jim Jarmusch make. My favorites overall are Raising Arizona, Bananas, Election, The Taking of Pelham 1,2,3, Big Lebowski, Office Space, etc. Guy stuff. But I do love silent films - Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd are two of my heroes. (I told you I was a nerd!).I'd prefer a documentary over anything Hollywood shits out.
Television is a complete waste, unless you have less than 10 brain cells. However, I watch the news, Seinfeld, hockey games and Curb Your Enthusiasm. But I am human - I'll admit I've gotten sucked into dross like the Real World and episodes of other reality shows. I do like Antiques Roadshow because I love old things and collect them - art deco stuff mostly.
Non fiction only. The only thing better than reading a cool story that was made up is reading one that really happened. I'm a New York City history nerd, so I mostly read that sort of stuff and books on music. I'm in the middle of the new Woody Guthrie biography.
Buster Keaton, Larry David, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Bob Probert.
