2004, started listening more to music, i went to gigs like a whore, and regularly brought random cds and lots of happy accidents happened. (rip fopp). albums like blur 13, and sufjan stevuns illinois sparked new ideas in my head, the discovery of rob da bank inspired me to start considering and writing music again, he introduced me to sets of ideas, processes and sounds, including mylo, datarock, justice, and many more.
started composing again, introduced to trackers which i still love. i was still at school; i never really worked for anything academically. progressed in the socially acceptable 'right direction', but never excelled - to the annoyance of my teachers. always seeming to spend my energy working in different areas and exploring other things. i have an addictive mind. one idea can spark many tangents, leading to a plethora of random but linked knowledge. i like this.
accepted in to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, a good place to be for creative electronic music composition. i met many people in cardiff, and lots of things happened. i had to learn how to work, something i'd never done before. i couldn't just sit back, i became engaged. the course quickly set about breaking us, and changed the way i considered everything. new ideas where explored and i started questioning the ways & how i was working. i gained appreciation for silence and how sound works. the people i met lead to discovery, more ideas, more processes, more collaboration, and different perspectives. cardiff is a catalyst, i am ever changing.
my thoughts... i am a big fan of processes, sometimes the work to get from a to b is better than whats waiting at B for you.
