About Me

Barking At Butterflies : retro-futurist, glitch-pop.
"From deepest, darkest Northwest England come Trish Lee and Jonathan Sharp, a slightly unexpected pairing (one ex-metal vocalist and a songwriter for Film & Television) but their creations are a spellbinding mix of ethereal pop and enchanting electronica
James Parker (www.yourmusicbox.org)

Barking at Butterflies are "an unexpected pairing of an ex metal vocalist and a singer songwriter for film and television" and are based in the North West of England. Barking at Butterflies originally formed in Summer of 2007 and signed their debut e.p 'Disappear with the Stars' with Lakeland Records in Spring 2008.
Retro-futurist : Moog-power…we have seen the future and circa 1970 this involves synthesisers that look like occasional tables. They sound fab though.
Glitch-pop : Songs, with chorus’s and tunes, big tunes. But with lots of fizzes, crackles and pops.
Trish Lee – Vocals.
Trish Lee is a singer/songwriter based in the North West of England. Trish's vocal background is steeped in heavy metal and rock singing but she has also dabbled in various genres and loves to test her voice.
Jonathan Sharp – Music.
Jonathan spent way too long making noisy industrial records for obscure indie labels. Currently he spends his days writing library music for use on television, film & radio. From Hollyoaks to How to Look Good Naked, chances are if you watch tv at all, you’ve heard his stuff.

Reviews and press
“Fans of polished, atmospheric, ethereal pop music might want to check out Cumbrian band Barking at Butterflies. An unexpected pairing of an ex metal vocalist and a singer songwriter for film and television, this duo make beautiful electronic sounds.”
Heather-Jane Steeley – The Fly Magazine Feb 2008 Issue
"Created by the same man who is working on the upcoming Titanium Rain soundtrack, this music project is perfect for those who like IDM music such as Bjork and Funkstorung. If anything, check out the stand-out track, "Inhuman" on this EP. You will not be disapointed."
"Lee can be hot or cold, like a bizarre game you can’t help yourself being intrigued about."
James Parker (www.yourmusicbox.org)
"The music fairies have been at this recording and given it a sparkle that even with the best will in the world, you couldn’t reproduce for yourself. Please familiarise yourself with this music because you will wonder how you lived without the exquisiteness of these songs... there is beauty inherent in the subtle textures Sharp has created. The quality here is that just enough is done and nothing is over complicated or done to excess, which is sometimes a temptation when you hit on something wonderful"
James Parker (www.yourmusicbox.org)
"North Lakes electronic/acoustic act Barking at Buttterflies are a remarkable male/female affair with some seriously strong chart-worthy tunes at the heart of their set."
