About Me

"il gato: conversationmusic" is an album inspired by and written to be played during late night, cathartic, candlelit conversations. the sound falls somewhere between the patience of Bruce Springsteen’s “Nebraska”, the stark emotion of Songs:Ohia, and the fragility of Bright Eyes more introspective moments. the album trods on country-blues, folk, indie-rock and Americana.

the album utilizes the best instrumentation my bedroom has to offer: my middle school trumpet, a pair of $20 walkie-talkies, a rainstick my momma gave me, a tubumpet that was run over by a car, my middle school amp which sat in storage for 10+ years, and many more. the album is resting on the line of a tightrope, always just about to gloriously implode only to somehow steady the bow. strange sounds and static occassionally come in attempting to take over only to be suddenly thwarted by the melody arising out of the waves. it is an art/folk record.

additionally, i am playing shows here and there so please come down and witness the collective atmosphere, the trumpet, the accordion, the vioin, and the intoxication of the loop pedal. the website is mostly complete and there are appearances by some low/no budget music videos, more songs from the cd, some live tracks and other fun-ness.

if you would like to purchase a home-made album, please send a check for $12 ($10 + $2 shipping/handling) to:
