Snowblink

Win-win.

About Me

I was conceived in Las Vegas in 1981. Snowblink was conceived twenty three years later, in an interim in Los Angeles. I had an upstairs neighbor who would beat his pepper grinder into his floor if I played too loudly, so the songs came out hushed. Now I play electric guitar and sing with four or more boy backup singers, pedal steel, and trumpet. A bit of a reveille. I like to choose handsome, charming, already spoken-for men for the choir, to keep things lovely but decidedly uncomplicated. This is not a rule, just a pattern. They also tend to spin huge webs of their own talents. Past members have included Andrew and Ben of Brooklyn's MGMT, and quebecois singer David Bujo (who rides a tandem bicycle throughout Montreal's summers "in case he runs into a friend"). Currently and locally, the choir includes Dave Wilson and Frank Lyon, who head their own duo Ship, and also put on outdoor music events in the bay area under the name Ribbons. ribbonsribbons.blogspot.com *** The other half of the current choir is our literary ballast: poet Andrew Connors and freelance film aficionado Max Goldberg. Their names and degrees of interest in millinery differ from city to city, but they are all connected in the following way: Imagine an enormous tangle of fuscia alpaca yarn. It is caught in the largest tumbleweed you have ever seen, and it is terribly windy. On each of my fellow snowblinkers' lapels, a brooch in the approximate shape of golden antlers, and a bit of the yarn pinned by it. And it reaches to Montreal, Middletown CT, New York, Toronto, San Francisco, LA. It is like that, our voices together. "You darn the darksome parts of me, I'll darn the darksome parts of you." Win-win.Snowblink currently plays in and around San Francisco, has opened for Patti Smith, and tours as often as you think to call home but don't. If you are interested in purchasing Snowblink albums, please send us a message, or visit the website. "Don't lick the juice from where it landed; go eat the apple." Both albums now also available on I-tunes or CDBABY: 2006 release, MY OH MY AVALANCHE www.CDbaby.com/snowblink or 2004 release, INTERIM AT AFTON VILLA www.CDbaby.com/snowblink2They are both hand-assembled, limited editions.
