For those who need to know what it is and put a meaning to the word 'butigroove,' written below is where the idea came from and what the concept has evolved into. Most people just like the sound of the word... if needed, feel free to put your own meaning to it, and represent in your own definition of butigroove.
Where the word and spelling came from... BUTIGROOVE originated in art school at the University of Washington in Seattle . I was with a friend from Japan outside one of the buildings talking about Hawaii. With his strong Japanese accent, he said to me "HAWAAAYEEE IS SOOOOO BUTI-FO" and I tilted my head confused and said " BUTI-FUL?" and made my hands like I was holding two basketballs. He was like "Nooo! BEAUTY-ful" and I was like "yeah right". The word 'BUTI' and it's spelling was born.
The concept evolution....I was in a traditional Hawaiian music band playing for a hula halau in Seattle. We played for people from all parts of the world. Music was a universal language - it unites people far and wide and we all belong to one human race. True beauty is life, and the source is our heart- the rawest form of rhythm. We are all born with a natural rhythm keeper - our heart. The seasons and tides are in rhythm, in a neverending cycle till the day we die. Every morning the birds sing, every birthday is celebrated with song. Music and reproduction is two of the most primitive and natural things on earth. BUTIGROOVE Clothing is inspired by music and loving life. Life is short and you must boogie down while you are here. Turn dat shit up!
