Carrie Sims Make-Up : Beauty and FX Make-Up Art

About Me

I am a trained and experienced make-up artist. I am a 2004 graduate of the beauty, professional and advanced prosthetics programs at Joe Blasco Makeup Center East. I practiced and self taught before that and ever since. I work on everything from beauty to FX make-up. I am passionate about my work and believe in being down to earth and easy to work with. It is important to me to keep my rates reasonable and fair while being true to the level of professionalism and dedication that I will offer. I give 110% on any project I am involved in.
To learn more about the school where I was trained, click on the banner below. You may also ask me questions directly, though I do sometimes post FAQs in my blog so you may want to check there first. Some samples of my work can be found in my pictures here on Myspace and I am willing to do specific sample work if I am interested in your project.
I mainly work in the Atlanta area but am also willing to travel. Cities I have worked in thus far include Orlando, Tampa, Sarasota, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Sebring, Melbourne, Lakeland, West Palm, Pensacola, Mobile, New Orleans, Savannah, Atlanta and more.
I have a wide range of styles. I like to combine the direction and wishes of clients with my experience to create each look. I listen carefully to the concerns, ideas and preferences of everyone I work with and try my best to be as individually accomodating as possible. Each of us is unique, with unique visions, ideas and beauty.
I enjoy the ART in make-up artistry and love projects that are unique and allow for creativity, but also have an appreciation for classic beauty looks. I like creating concepts but also enjoy making the concepts of others a possibility for them. Clear, consistant communication is vital to ensure that everyone's expectations are met and hopefully exceeded.

Some of my thoughts on make-up:

Make-up is more than just helping people to "look hot". It is a tool of expression and creativity as well as a way of helping people to feel their best, helping to bring stories to life and helping to make the unnatural possible through art.

There is a magical feeling in being able to use make-up art to turn human beings into sea creatures, zombies, aliens and more... being able to raise someone's confidence level through a makeover, witnessing how this can bring the inner outward... the possibilities are amazing.

"Life is too short to spend it hoping that
the perfectly arched eyebrow or hottest new
lip shade can mask an ugly heart."
-Kevyn Aucoin

"There are two types of people in the world: people who are passionate about things, and people who've had their passion punched, beaten, or whatever out of them."
-Kevyn Aucoin

"Don't dream it, be it."
-The Rocky Horror Picture Show

"Be who you are and say what you feel,
because those who mind don't matter,
and those who matter don't mind."
-Dr. Seuss
