About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

Hello, everyone--this is a fan site in progress, ran by me, Brandon (see friends). I am in no way trying to blow away other Edna sites (check them all out, they're all good on here); just love Edna & thought it'd be fun to make her another site. Enjoy:)

Edna St. Vincent Millay (Feb 1892 - Oct 1950), a confident, lovely & inspiring poet is best described by her sister Norma: "She was usually unusually beautiful, sustained in any mood by her bright & lively hair, called red but with gold & darker lights and suiting its natural waves to her delicate face and head. Saying her poems alone on a stage, she became tall with her friendly dignity. Her voice was extraordinary. Her eyes were green & looked both inward and out."

Check out this amazingly beautiful musician, Erica Mulkey (see friends) --gorgeous music set to Edna poems:

My Interests

Lyrical, soulful & often very playful poetry. Also music, it was a hard decision for Edna on whether to pursue a career in poetry or music. & plays - dramas and satirical comedies. Love, ever-spirited bohemian life & smoking. Nature--everything of, but particularly objects of nature hated, feared or ignored; wildflowers carried far more beauty & power to Edna than a commonplace rose. The same for human nature, where true love & happiness were more vital than settling down.

I'd like to meet:

edna's home, and beautiful voice:):"the spring song", with poetry from edna's "three songs of shattering":"lay down lean", short film with edna's poetry; featuring zooey deschanel:):

Music:

Need to research more on what Edna really liked. But I do know she loved storytelling piano songs, which she would often play with her sisters (sneaking in 'dirty' songs for fun). They'd sometimes play late into the night, smoking & having merry fun.

Television:

Don't think so.

Books:

Edna's--poetry:

"Renasence" (ooohhh, sooo good; raw, passionate, the shining of a young beautiful soul, a must-read for Edna lovers)

"Second April"

"A Few Figs from Thistles"

"The Harp-Weaver & Other Poems"

"The Buck in the Snow"

"Poems Selected for Young People"

"Wine from These Grapes"

"Huntsman, What Quarry?", more...

--plays:

"Aria da Capo" (comedy); "The King's Henchman" (brillaint tragedy, a mastering of Shakespeare dialect with a twist of Edna storytelling, I own a '20s copy of, it's sooo cool), more...

Edna of course luuuuved Shakespeare, & she read a lot of traditional poetry, despite it being 'out of fashion' among young poets. Made the transition from "Mother Goose" to "Romeo & Juliet" when she was 7. Studied Dickinson, Byron & Tennyson mainly I believe, I'll do more research.

Heroes:

Her mother of course, Cora Millay--who passed down her beautiful, strong & unique personality to all of her daughters. I'll do more research again! sorry:(
