About Me

Who am I:I'm a son, brother, father, friend, musician, song writer, performing artist, graphic artist, NuYoRican Harlem native, business owner "Phat Tyme Productions" and Nicety Bassist for the genre bending band "Idle Hands".How did this all get started:Music started early for me. When I was 5, I was playing on a guitar my Grandfather had brought from Nicaragua. Soon afterwards we had a little organ that we would mess around with but it was my mother who noticed I had really been bitten by this music bug and went to a pawn shop and bought an acoustic guitar for me. I literally worn that instrument out as it served double duty as a guitar and figuring out bass lines. Shortly after that I purchased my first electric bass.Where has this taken place:I have performed from north to south and east to west in this country and even as far as the far east in Japan as well. I've performed in various genres from R & B, Rock, Funk, Jazz, Fusion, Salsa and Gospel just to mention a few with close to 30 years experience. My Bass Moto:"As the Rhythm Section Goes, So Goes the Rest of the Band" !!!What is Phat Tyme Productions:It's a big umbrella that has included music production for musicians & singers alike both in composition & arrangements for either studio, live and even theatrical performances. It also encompasses graphic media design to assist artist with image and editorial perception. For more information please send me a message here @ www.myspace.com/phat_tyme and I will get back with you at my earliest convenience.~ Discover Idle Hands ~ :Self described as Soul Jazz for the 21st century – this guitar, bass & drum trio balances a funky R&B candor with the subtle lyricism of traditional jazz. Their collaboration transcends today’s typical acid jazz, funk bop or progressive soul genre labels, and their warm earthy tones possess a smooth feel that inspires ones spiritual energy.Pork Chop Terry and Phat Tyme Daveed skillfully conduct drum and bass duties, hopping between dense funk pockets and open ended swing grooves; while guitarist Balisque creates a graceful flow of melodious harmonies. Though always rooted in their own blues & soulfully laden jazz groove; they have achieved a unique balancing act resulting in a full sounding trio interweaved with rich texture, ambiance and flare.Honest and expressive, their music attempts to bridge not only the divisions found within the world of music, but those found within the human soul. Please take a moment to visit our web page @ www.myspace.com/balisqueidlehands .Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a Phat Tyme enjoying all this web page has to offer ! Peace...

My Interests

The Sounds of Muzik !!!As far as my influences go they're vast, deep and wide however I will do my best to keep it as concise as possible. James Jamerson (Motown), Marshall Jones of The Ohio Players, Rocco Priesta of Tower of Power, Louis Johnson of The Brothers Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke, Abraham Laboriel, Marcus Miller, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, George Duke, Scott LaFaro, Dave Valentine and Noel Pointer just to mention a few have all help shape the sounds. My Arsenal:I perform with my main squeeze "Sally". She's 5 string Warwick Fortress Masterman One. I also have a customized Ibanez Tenor Bass named "Toni" and Guild Acoustic Electric Bass named "Billie" that I write most of my songs with (requires no electricity). I run them through a Hartke Transient Attack amp & a BBE Sonic Maximiser. All of that comes out of an SWR Henry the 8th 8x8 cabinet for the Lo-Lo.

With which great bass player do you most identify?
Jaco Pastorius
Early career backing the Temptations and Supremes. Moved on to work with Pat Metheny and Weather Report. Probably the best technician ever to play the bass.
