ratcross © is a work title for the r) atelier projects, paintings and objects of dutch artist robert rüth.
signing with r † r , rob attempts to narrow a gap between 'critical of social structure' contemporary art and man’s almost forgotten (spiritual bond with) nature : both our essential place in the universe and our original ability to escape from the concepts of 'time & distance' or 'space & matter' are about to become pretty clear, but the warfare for 'economic world power' or 'god-fearing creed' vs 'alien religious dogmatism,' greed for land, oil, diamonds, gold and someday drinking water or even oxygen will remain. this current world of 'knowledge' might have to re-bridge the canyon between science and ancient world religions, to re-find the truth in history and to work on global solutions against political abuse, exploitation and deception ; "in the name of religion” or so-called “democracy.” so, hasn’t it become everyone’s task to take politics and the concepts of 'differences in social status' out of our lives and environment ? ..and isn’t it time to reboot our ‘economic’ treadmill minds now ? ..maybe to prepare ourselves for a complete climate change and a new era ?
robert rüth 's crucifixes are neither an iconoclastic template for keen quotes or charges, nor a stylistic shaped symbol as a relic for a philosophy, but an overlapping combination : a crossover, as a sign for adjusting consciousness and bringing our mentality back to scratch, ..maybe even before the end of this era, (anno 2012 ? ..according to the ancient Mayas' complex astrology calendar endings) ..an unconventional token that just asks us to think sceptically about the entanglement of life.
in addition to these minimalistic cross-shaped textures, several works contain writings from rob's parallel art project on 'love poetry and guerrillanguage,' named LVCIFER © : these lyrics are ad rem, sometimes even multilayered or symbolic, but most of all, written from the rock bottom of the (he)art ; inspired by passionate love for his personal goddess ’n’ muse, for the ART in music, cinema, dance, photography, architecture, wine, coffee or chocolate, for shoe design, sailing boats or classic cars, as well as for the true history of rewritten history by aristocrats and churches, manipulation by the vatican, the royalties, world bankers, the imf, wto, opec, multinationals and the mainstream media, for colonialism and capitalistic globalism, with in particular, the people, think tanks, governments, corporations, financial and industrial networks behind warfare : the initiators of wars and their hidden agendas plus the false flag operations to katalyse war. the real elite behind exploitation of continents, global terror and these specific puppeteers versus the individual people who fought or fight for 'true peace' or for 'free energy' or against 'created poverty by capitalist imperialism’ and ‘debt enslavement.’ it’s hardly possible to put your finger on the truth, when there’s a continuous overwhelming stream of disinformation caused by lobbying entanglements and hidden (war) agendas behind governmental façades, but the world is slowly waking up since the truth behind 9/11 cleared up. inspired by these events, rob still dreams about a society that gets sincerely informed by real people, like for instance ;
dr. Michael Parenti, Mrs Arundhati Roy, Howard Zinn, dr. Rupert Sheldrake, Joseph Beuys, the seven members of the Münchener ‘Die Weiße Rose’ movement, or even Bob Marley, instead of being (miss) led by mass media-, banking-, pharmaceutical-, oil- or weapon-industries and their lobbyists or political spin doctors behind every single government.
at his r ) atelier : for more than 20 years, robert has been studying art, aesthetics and the visual attraction of certain
'imperfect' or 'raw' detailing and 'rat look' textures vs the formal 'precision' of matter, endowed with spirit : heritage, objects with a history, used products or pictorial artwork as a vehicle for memories, emotions, intentions, sense or spiritual energy.
(e.g.) a classic v-dub split- or bay-window, in its original paint after 40 years of burning in the californian sun : for decades these hippie buses embodied a 'lifestyle' of equality, tolerance, love and peace as a mobile monument for freedom, and even still there remain good kindred spiritual intentions, embedded in each 'Gestalt' of rusty steel 'form' and patina paint.
starting from this example of '(automotive) consumer goods' and connecting its 'semiotic design vs its symbolic values,' back to its original 'function within the essence of being vs its current place,' ..the annexation of the ratcross © on product surfaces, or integrating it in spaces, might be interpreted as a 'spiritual bumper sticker on our subconscious time-machine'
..how about transmuting crucial information from quantum physicists’ computer screens, into holy lcd-screen fridge-magnet statutes on all mini-bars in rome, mekka or jerusalem ? ..and vise-versa ; why not bringing the vatican’s library secrets and hidden truth behind 9/11 to the people...
..or transmitting the cry of distress from a drifted drowning ice bear on his melting floe, to the world governments, into the white house or similar banana republics, into a g8-, nato-, imf-, wto- or an opec-summit and into all shareholders’ meetings of world’s imperialistic multinationals ?
