About Me

My daughter, Taylor, who is already an amazing singer/songwriter at only 16, created this page for me originally for which I am grateful. I am an aging singer/songwriter and getting to now has been quite a journey. I’m finally back where I grew up in Nashville but it took over 25 years to get back.I am really excited about the publishing/production company I have started with probably the best guy you could meet in Nashville, Ronnie Brown. Our flagship artist/writer, Greg Bates, is the best young talent to be raised in Nashville, or anywhere else, in decades. His songwriting ability is matched only by his vocal prowess. Traditional country in the best way. I strongly urge you to check him out. You will be a changed person! My history began when I toured as a duo with a good friend from Florida, Jamie Serino, in the late 70’s, early 80’s which included great times playing in New York City, Cape Cod, and other great areas including Tennessee. When not playing we worked on industrial buildings in New Jersey sweating it out doing hot tar roofing. Our only real claim to fame, other than our regional following, was opening for Little Feat in St. Petersburg, Florida (circa 1978). I played the Exit-In way back in 1976 on writers nights here in Nashville. After trying to make a go of music, I realized in 1987 that $50 a night and all the beer I could drink playing bars in Atlanta would not support a family (or be conducive to a healthy lifestyle!). I had been married for 2 years to an incredibly supportive and understanding woman, Mary (we just celebrated our 22nd anniversary), and, while we both would have happily continued to pursue our dreams on that uncertain road, I decided that I should take some other steps to ensure stability. After growing up in Austin and Nashville, I moved to Florida for 6 years and then Atlanta where I met Mary (and where she was raised) and where I lived for 20 years. I ended up working in a bookstore and going to law school at night at Georgia State for 4 years while writing songs and performing the entire time.During that time we had another amazing daughter, Madison, who, at 14, not only plays incredible drums but kicks my butt in golf! I’m finally back in Nashville (where I’ve been since 2002) and, since being a law-clerk in 1992, I have developed my entertainment/IP law practice at a great law firm (Hall, Booth, Smith & Slover). I represent a good many songwriters of all levels of success. I am extremely fortunate to be back in Nashville and representing folks I really like and respect. In addition to great songwriters, I am fortunate to represent a plethora of other very talented people and companies in the film and music business in Nashville and around the country.Hopefully, if you have read this far, you like the music, the story and want to share your story and music as well. That’s what life is all about. Sharing things that last like stories and music. Thanks to Harley Allen, Kevin Denney and Jonell Mosser for being great people and for singing the songs you currently hear on my page. Thanks to Dylan Thomas for the quote. Hope to hear from you.
