The Norwegian drummer Snorre Bjerck started in 1998 his own solo career as a bandleader. He have during these 9 years made many different constellations of the band, but always with the same idea; namely to combine traditional ethnic music with his own creativity about adding improvisation and modern atmospheres.Pervious projects includes Quintet B´Net Marrakech, from Morocco and the Tuvan overtone singer Sainkho Namthylak. One of the most recent projects is the collaboration with the Cairo/New York based DJ Mutamassik. combining traditional Arabic music with Drum`N`Bass, Hip Hop and Hardstep. All projects focuses on the mixture of traditional and modern music.This time Snorre Bjerck is presenting music from his new cd â€My Placeâ€, at the label Vuelie, www.vuelie.com. On this cd the great Swiss musician Mich Gerber, and the Norwegian Joik singer Ailu Gaup appears. Ailu is a singer from the Sámi people, the nomads of the north, performing the very special vocal tradition Joik, describing people and nature. He also appears at Jan Garbarek`s cd †I Took Up The Runesâ€, at the label ECM.Snorre has done concerts and cd´s with different kind of artists, such as: Morten Harket, Sissel Kyrkjebø, Nils Petter Molvær, Sondre Bratland, Giulia Loli, (Cairo/New York) Bjørn EidsvÃ¥g, Solveig Kringlebotten, Sigvart Dagsland, Nohon & Bolot (Mongolia), Mich Gerber (Switzerland), Frode Alnes, B´Net Marrakech (Morrocco), Eivind Aarseth, Annbjørg Lien, Arve Henriksen, Sainkho Namtcylac (Tuva), Tim Whelan (Trans Global Underground, England), Sher Miandad Khan (Pakistan) mm.
