About Me

20-something research scientist originally from the beautiful Isle of Mull so still a bit of a country bumpkin at heart. Spent 10 years studying in Edinburgh, now residing in Leeds. Still like to get back up to the homeland when I can to visit the folks and my lovely friends in Auld Reekie but Leeds is home now, adore it! Love my friends, meeting new people of all walks of life (as long as they aren't too conservative or arrogant), going out way too much, having a bit of a dance, slobbing about. Hate arguing (I'm a wimp), talking in the morning, my inability to stop smoking, shrill people.

My Interests

Music, clubbing, travel (well would be if I had any money), reading, films, people (well some of them anyway), the colour green, being nice but also being grumpy/bitchy occasionally, open-mindedness, silver, food (too much), the sea...

Music:

Bit of everything really. Love clubbing and listen to many types of dance music: electro, most forms of house, techno, breakbeat etc although not particularly knowledgeable about who does what! Also like hip-hop, mostly of the non-gangsta/bling variety i.e. The Roots, ATCQ, Roots Manuva, Common, Beastie Boys etc, adore Kanye West. Into quite a few bands like the Rapture, Arctic Monkeys, QOSTA but hate 'nice' wishy-washy music like Keane. Love a bit of country, soul, punk and also appreciate a good pop song. So basically pretty varied.

Movies:

Favourite film is probably Grosse Pointe Blank, know the script by heart. Bit of a fan of the US high school movie, Breakfast Club, Clueless, CRUEL INTENTIONS, 10 things etc. Do like 'proper' films too, 'small' films like Donnie Darko, Napoleon Dynamite, Morven Callar, also beautiful japanese films like House Of Flying Daggers as well as big silly comedies and action films.

Television:

To be honest, will watch any old shite. Sadly, am a huge Buffy and Angel geek. Any other good imported US stuff. Totally addicted to CSI. Housewives, OC etc. Homegrown: Brasseye is possibly the funniest thing ever shown on the small screen. Spaced and League of Gentlemen fabulous. Also, being a biologist, love any natural history programs.

Books:

A couple of favourites I have read several times: The Collector Collector (Tibor Fischer), Memoirs of a Geisha, Great Expectations. Love trashy-ish american crime like Carl Hiasson, Elmore Leonard and Janet Evanovich.

Heroes:

Maybe not heroes as such but people I like/admire. Darwin, Debbie Harry, Jon Snow, Kanye West, George Clooney. but most of all Nathan is my hero.
