My Interests

My lovely friends, my amazing family, fun, sleeping, eating, drinking, weekends, cooking, music, dancing, blagging, meeting new people, getting to know not-so-new people better, skin, stretching, cats, words, films, books, Connect 4, housemates, summer sunshine, my bed, gurning, nonsense, play fighting, fluffy and furry stuff, twiddling hair, wine, Little Tokyo, GHD, philosophy, Leeds, hugs, glitter, eye shadow, travelling, lie-ins, Saturday cooked breakfasts, Sunday dinner, feet, standing in front of speakers, disco balls, drum and bass, collecting shot glasses, giving presents, fancy dress, soft furnishings, dimmer switches, travelling to new places (when finances permit) and experiencing different cultures is always amazing...

I'd like to meet:

In real life, pretty much anyone. I find people fascinating and take any opportunity I get to talk to them. In the world of My Space, I'd like to hear from people I've already met so I can keep in touch on here, from anyone involved in music who has something they think I might like and from entertaining people.

Music:

Music means the world to me. I like music from a wide variety of genres and artists and can never answer the 'what's your favourite...' question because there is so much to say, and because different music suits different situations.

I am fascinated by the fact that I can remember all the words to songs I heard and liked fifteen years ago, when I have trouble remembering where I put my keys five minutes ago. And that music is linked so closely into the way our brain processes memories that a song you used to hear a lot but haven't heard for ages may be instantly recognisable after only a couple of notes and can transport you right back in time and place you so firmly in that situation that you feel every emotion from that time almost as if it were happening now.

Some music makes me cry, some music makes me feel sick, a lot of music makes me tap my foot and nod my head, and best of all is when some music makes the hairs on my arms stand on end, my heart beat faster and little gremlins jump around in my stomach and make it twitch.

Movies:

My favourite film ever is Leon, although I watched Amelie recently and think this may be a contender for the top spot. City of God and Requiem for a Dream also come to mind when I think of films that have had a powerful effect on me, although I am sure there are loads of others that don't come to mind right now.

I very strongly wish the world to be rid of all romantic comedies and US teen films.

Television:

Watch too much of it. It's evil.

Books:

I spent most of my childhood with my head in books. So much so that I sometimes got nosebleeds from having my head down in them all the time. I read a million and one books for my degree and almost lost the ability to read for pleasure. Not quite, though. Nowadays I just find it difficult to sit still long enough to finish one.

Heroes:

My mum and dad, Chesterfield's 'Pound a bag' man
