I love a good quote! Here's the quote of the day...week...probably month...
"Of all the creatures that were made, man is the most detestable. Of the entire brood he is the only one--the solitary one--that possesses malice. That is the basest of all instincts, passions, vices--the most hateful. He is the only creature that has pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. Also--in all the list he is the only creature that has a nasty mind."
Mark Twain (1835 - 1910), Mark Twain's Autobiography
Fleur-de-Lis Symbol of New Orleans
The history of the fleur-de-lis and New Orleans French heritage dates back to 1682 when a plaque with the French fleur-de-lis was erected on Louisiana soil in the name of God and the French king.
The fleur-de-lis translates into English as the "lily flower." It serves as the emblem for the city of New Orleans and represents the unique cultural history of the city. You will find the fleur-de-lis used in much of the architecture, as well as, art and decorative ware. The fleur-de-lis is also part of the city's official flag, as well as, the official logo for the New Orleans Saints.
Since Hurricane Katrina the fleur-de-lis has become the symbol of unity to those supporting the rebirth of New Orleans.
I enjoy spending time with my son, writing poetry, reading, computer graphics, arcades (air hockey rocks!), pizza, new found interest in cooking new things, music, people watching, ghost stories, New Orleans (all the old buildings and stuff), antiques, making new friends, talking on the phone and playing with my son. (I mentioned that again on purpose)

Honestly I'd like to meet...anyone fun and who knows the true meaning of friendship. People of substance that know about mutual respect and honesty. Don't disrespect me because I find it hard to forgive liars. As far as famous people I'd like to meet, I really wouldn't know where to begin. I would LOVE to have a conversation with DaVinci though. :)
I think you would be totally surprised at the types of music I listen to. I've been told that I don't look like the type that would listen to bands like NIN, Tool or Rob Zombie. But my interests don't stop there. I listen to trance, techno, R&B, Jazz, pop (as long as it's not too much bubble gum), oldies, old 70's rock like Led Zepplin, I'm a HUGE 80's fan (especially underground 80's) and I've been known to listen to SOME country but I'll never admit to liking it.
Ok, normally I'm forced to watch Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon or my son's movies (mostly fun kid stuff), but I do have times when I have tv to myself. When that rare opportunity comes up I watch mostly Law & Order (special victims is my fav), NCIS, CSI, Without A Trace, Criminal Minds...shows that make you think. I also have my moments where I want laughs like Everyone Loves Raymond, Two and Half Men, and whatever other funny shows I happen to surf onto when I'm in control. hehehe Um...I'll admit to watching Spongebob and I love the episode of Foster's Imaginary Friends called "Cheese". It's hysterical! Yeah, maybe "forced" is a little harsh since my son and I laugh together about some of his shows.
I recently read "A Million Little Pieces". Someone on a plane felt he had to tell me that it's not really a true story. I really don't care. The fact is so far it's a very good book. I finally finished "Memoirs of a Geisha". I think I put off finishing it for as long as I could because I didn't want it to end. The movie was a total disappointment! Read the book!!! yeah, yeah...it's true, I'm a Potter fan! Outlaw Bible of American Poetry...READ IT!, "Post Office" by Charles Bukowski, and "The Movie Goer" by Walker Percy.....so many more...just go to the bookstore and read dammit!
My hero is my Dad. He was everything that I feel a true humanitarian should be and more. I haven't met anyone as great since. I miss him so much.
