About Me

The boys story together really started in 1985 when Nisse was Mr Soul in Mr Soul & his Marshmallows. That band needed a substitute drummer for a period and engaged Måns Eriksson. Some years later Nisse and Måns formed a band called “Tough guys don..t dance”. An obscure hardcorefunk band with a hornsection. Late 80..s Nisse moved to the south of Sweden, to Varberg, where he early in the 90..s  met Jonas Svensson. A monster bassplayer who played with all the bluesbands on the westcoast at the time. Nisse and Jonas played together in, for example, the soul/britpop coverband Rubber Souls (where also keyboardist Bengan Bengtsson played, who appears on MoneyJoes album). Around year 2000 Nisse and Jonas started writing songs together. All was recorded on an old portastudio.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxIn late summer 2002 , while visiting a local photoshop in Varberg, someone tapped Nisse on his shoulder. And there was Måns. They switched phone numbers and a few days later  Nisse introduced Måns to Jonas. While both Måns and Jonas was in the middle of  baby producing they struggled to find time to meet. The boys had really hard to get together, and so the band The Ghettogethers (with an extra h) was founded. In the beginning they rehearsed live at Nisses home, most acoustic. Some of the songs on the new album was written during these early rehearsals, Stockholms too far away, Shade, Under the lights and Already there. So here we have three singers and  three composers! Mostly the composer of a song were singing and playing guitar, the other two had to fight about who..s going to play bass or drums. Before the first appearance they went back to their original instruments, Nisse acoustic guitar, Måns drums and Jonas bass.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx2006 they changed from Ghettogethers to MoneyJoe, which is  a mix of their names Må(ns)Ni(sse)Jo(nas). This summer of 2007 Money Joe will release an EP, which will be followed by a full-length album. The first album is a mix of these three personalities in a box. It..s quite simple MoneyJoe.   xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxEarlier band ;   Nisse: Elvärket (progg group 1976-1981, 1 album and 2 singles), Mr Soul & his Marshmallows (soul band 1982 – 1989 and 2000 – still playing, 2 albums, 1 single and a compilation), D.O.R. And when the soulking died in January 2006, Nisse was invited to the ceremony in the States. Nisse has also made appearances with ex-Small Faces-singer Steve Marriott (“the closest you can get my voice in Sweden”, Steve said) and Procol Harum pianist/singer Gary Brooker. Måns is a session drummer on a lot of Swedish albums: Rikard Wolf, Lotta Sigeman, Toni Holgersson, Irma Schultz, Elin & Alex m fl. The three boys have also been playing with artists like Orup, Kjell Höglund, Lars Winnerbäck, Johan Johansson, Peter LeMarc and Idde & Irma Schultz. Also; Nisse produced the first single by Lisa Ekdahl, “Radioapparat” in 1987, while working as a recordproducer at Caprice Records. He also made the first recording with a young Lisa Nilsson that same year.
