Artist: boygirlme.
Song: You're My Wicked Life
Somewhere between m83, Mogwai and The Cure lies boygirlme, a one man band from Sweden producing some really amazing ambient pop.
The song starts out with a really beautiful synthesizer line, all dreamy and swirling. Then a sampled voice starts up in the background, really quietly at first, then getting louder as the song progresses.
The drums come in with some high hat brushes, then when the snare hits the song really gets propelled as another layer of lush synthesizer is added.
The ride cymbal is used to great effect in the song, just enough to add some color. The synthesizer swells and ebbs, then the drums drop out and the vocals are brought to the forefront of the song - then the song just kind of ends.
Yet once again, another example of why I love foreign bands.
