About Me

Chris (Lund) and Broken (i can’t wait to be famous) first met and formed their friendship in high school. Their companionship continued through college at the University of North Texas where the two graduated: Chris with a Bachelors of Music in Composition, and Broken with a Bachelors in Political Science and a minor in French. Throughout these years, the two explored music independently and developed their own unique and vastly different artistic backgrounds.
Chris approached music from a heavy classical and electronic musical background (influenced by composers/artists Debussy, Radiohead, and Her Space Holiday). Having studied performance and audio engineering in addition to his degree, Chris wrote polished classical repertoire as well as producing and DJing driving dance music.
Broken came from an expansive rock and indie background (influenced by such artists as NIN, Badly Drawn Boy, and The Robot Ate Me) and learned to sing and play several stringed instruments on his own. His raw creative talents and travels abroad led him to write colorful folk tunes for guitar interwoven with intricate lyrics and his signature vocals.
When the two finally decided to combine their efforts at the end of 2006, their creative potential exploded into an unexpected hybrid of sound: Chris Broke It. The pair immediately began to write innovative and edgy music: simple, beautiful songs immersed in gritty and powerful swirling electronic textures. With the profound ability to compose, perform multiple instruments, record, and produce all their own original material, the band quickly self-released their first EP in a matter of months (including the singles “Thank You Toni” and “I reK”). The EP landed them a string of higher profile gigs such as multiple radio broadcasts and a large electronic music festival.
The two are currently finishing their first full length album and polishing their live set with guest musicians as they prepare to take on larger and more ambitious musical goals in 2008.
