The Dave Scott Quintet/The Dave Scott Band

About Me

The Dave Scott Quintet and the Dave Scott Band feature several of New York’s finest improvisers. Their experiences range from traditional forms of jazz and classical music to the extremely experimental and atonal. Dave Scott’s compositions reflect both specific forms with dense harmonic structures and open frameworks for free improvisation. In June of 2004 Dave released a CD of the quintet, “Song For Amy” on the SteepleChase label. The recording received critical acclaim in JazzTimes in March of 2005. In January of 2006 the quintet finished a new project “Naivete, " released on SteepleChase in February of 2007. The disc received a very positive review in the Jazz Review in September 2007. Both groups perform regularly in the New York City area including the Knitting Factory, The 55 Bar, Barbes in Brooklyn, the Center for Improvisational Music, the Cornelia St. Cafe and the Brooklyn Lyceum. The quintet has also been featured at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art concert series and The Jazz City ‘99 on the campus of the University of Southern California. Other venues include the Deer Head Inn, the Blue Room in Kansas City, MO, Southern Illinios University, Northern Illinios Univeristy and St. Charles Community College in St. Louis.
