The Masters Of Sleepless Nights

WHO IS JOHN GALT???

About Me

I'm working alone and would like to convey musically what a disturbed night sleep can do to one's mind. It can cover an enormous range of feelings, from frustrations to hopes, despair, fear, excitement, vivid dreams, nauseous nightmares and can also get quite erotic. Although rarely aggressive, this is not easy listening, there are some raw nerves behind my pieces, alongside a playful experimental mind. This is not chart music either, it is not made to touch anybody or reach you to make you want to dance, but if you like it or if it moves you, welcome to my intangible world. If you hate it, you're welcome as well, you might just decide not to stay. I have found my music to work best with headphones. After taking a well deserved sabbatical from 8 years as a hospitality manager in the UK and Ireland, and spending some good times in Chicago and New York, I'm going back to Dublin to manage restaurants, and also use my free time creatively. The break was very good for inspiration but please be patient, my output has always been a bit slow. I've also collaborated with Arban Severin (The Dream Machine) in late summer 2007, feel free to check her site too. I've also responded musically to my friends Smith Elliot's beautiful pictures. All the artwork is from me. Please feel free to comment, critic and suggest. Collaborations welcome!!!

Influences: Not in order of preference, nor Importance. If we open up, many things can influence us. Chris Ware's fabulous cartoons. Musically, my dad to give me a kick start. Robert Smith for opening the doors and finding me. John McGeogh for adding another dimension to music and making me perplexed and confused about what one can do with guitars. Steve Severin and Simon Gallup who made me want to play bass. Siouxsie for pushing me further. My two friends Alex (Rabot) and Nono (Arno Marzin Photographer) have played a huge role in making me discover many bands and open my ears (Oh Boys I miss you) . Cyril aka "Parasite" for giving me this tape with no name and no titles when I was at the beginning of my teenage years. Sounds Like: Is it really for me to judge what it sounds like? I do do not want to restrict myself... Some will call it crap. It might be, but I like it. Therefore some might like it too. I know for sure it does not sound like R'n'B, Charts or Folk Music... At the moment anyway. Lol.
