the following vids, films and trailers were scored by Billy....
Eclipse over Apollo:
Add to My Profile
^ This time-elapsed film of a total solar eclipse (above) was shot on location at the ancient Apollo Temple in Side, Turkey. In this short you'll witness an entire day whiz by from sunrise to sunset, with the sun fully eclipsing above the temple around mid-day. Time seems to just stand still during totality, and so I tried to enhance that sensation within this score.

Production Design by Wanda Chan
Post Production Supervision by Ian McCrudden
Eclipse at Paraguana:
Add to My Profile
^ Another total solar eclipse, shot from under a Divi-divi tree in Paraguana, Venezuela. The key was getting the eclipse to occur in the "hole" with no branches. This was my first experience scoring music to my own imagery.
Film and Music by Billy Mallery
Cameron Stone, cello
John Sandor, tenor
Billy Mallery, piano
Islander Trailer:
Add to My Profile
^ The trailer for my latest feature film project Islander, released in select theaters this past March, and soon to be released on DVD. All the music you'll hear is straight from the score. What a joy it was to work on this fine dramatic film, and one that features one of my favorite actors, Philip Baker Hall (The Insider, Boogie Nights, Magnolia).
David & Fatima Trailer:
^ The trailer for the upcoming film David & Fatima. This music was my submission in a competition to score both the film and the trailer. Unfortunately I did not get it, but I'm very happy that the project inspired this music to be born. It will most likely become a new hover track (a much longer version of course).
CAGED Opening Titles:
^ Opening titles for the upcoming thriller Caged, designed by writer/director Nathan Eaans. It starts with the LIONSGATE "Horror Logo" which I scored a few years ago. I love how Nathan has the gates slamming shut at the end in this piece (not part of the original animation), and so I started scoring these titles from that point onward, trying to make the transition as seamless as possible.
LIONSGATE Logo:
^ This score was the "runner up" for the new LionsGate "Heroic Logo". It wasn't easy saying goodbye to this one! But I'm happy to add that my score for their "Horror Logo" (above) did go final and is currently playing in front of about 10 LionsGate horror/thriller films.
AUDI EUROPE A Rhythm of Lines:
^ What cool imagery to score... in fact I did many demos for this. This mix is my favorite, featuring Irina Bjorklund on the saw. She's an absolute natural...
ECO Hidden City:
Add to My Profile
^ This global awareness PSA, produced by the Earth Communications Office (ECO), focuses on the delicate relationship between life on Earth and its oceans. Translated into 13 languages, "Hidden City" was released in theaters and on television worldwide. It was quite an honor to be involved with such a project.
Directed by Larry Kopald
Music by Billy Mallery
Narrated by Gene Hackman (television)
and Hector Elizondo (theatrical)
HALO2 Trailer:
^ This one was incredibly fun for me (I love space stuff!). They wanted the score to be epic, and that it contain sound and themes from the actual game (main HALO theme by Marty O'Donnell).
ROGUE Pictures Logo:
^ A personal favorite... now playing in theaters and on DVD. I call it "sound music". :)
Directed by John Berlin, Devastudios
Music/Sound Design by Billy Mallery
(ROGUE Pictures is a division of FOCUS Features)

BIO:
"Let the film score itself" is the motto of composer Billy Mallery, who started studying piano at the age of five, and began to compose original music at twelve. After studying music composition and film/tv production at Syracuse University, he started his career in New York where he landed his first commercial score (Gallo Wine), performed by a 60 piece orchestra. Mallery has since composed original scores for such accounts as Levis, Nike, Got Milk?, BMW, Sony and Pepsi , for which he received a CLIO Award for original music. Many years of scoring commercials has led him to work with such directors as David Fincher , Michael Bay , Janusz Kaminski , David LaChapelle , Mark Pellington , Joe Pytka and Zack Snyder .
Billy has also composed numerous corporate logo scores including XBOX Sports (XSN), SCI-FI Channel, ROGUE Pictures (a division of FOCUS Features) and most recently, one of the new LIONSGATE logos released last year.
In 1997 Mallery was chosen as the composer for ECO's Hidden City , narrated by Gene Hackman and Hector Elizondo. Translated into 13 languages, this global PSA focusing on Earth's oceans was released in theaters and on television around the world. Other composers involved with films by the Earth Communications Office include Hans Zimmer ( The Power of One , Island Home ), Jonathan Elias ( Mother ) and Louis Armstrong, featuring his song "What a Wonderful World" (performed by Willie Nelson).
His first dramatic film project was Crossing Over, written and directed by Wayne Kramer (The Cooler, Running Scared), followed by Dos Corazones, directed by the renowned acting coach Larry Moss. Billy's more recent feature films include Devil's Highway (starring Shane Brolly and Natassia Malthe) and Islander , written and directed by Ian McCrudden (featuring Philip Baker Hall and Amy Jo Johnson).
One of his unique qualities as a composer is that he is passionate about sound design, and frequently merges music with sound within his scores. Billy was recently invited to speak at UCLA's Extension Program focusing on music and sound design for television and film.
In his travels within both the film and music worlds Billy has had the privilege to work with such talented artists as Domonic Dean Breaux , Miranda Lee Richards , Dito Montiel, Dan Lavery, Ian McCrudden , Renee Stahl , Shannon Michael Terry , Girish , Kristin Mooney , Eric Heywood , Oren Waters, Liz Constantine and Lane Lenhart . In the summer of 2000 Billy was invited to join Vas ( Azam Ali & Greg Ellis), cellist Cameron Stone and Yungchen Lhamo for the 'Worlds Unite Tour' (NARADA), contributing keyboard textures, percussion (djembe) and Tuvan Chanting. In the classical realm Mallery has collaborated with vocalists Anonymous 4, tenor John Sandor, soprano Valerie Wilson, cellist Gi Yung Moon and members of the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics.
Billy is currently engaged in directing his own unique film project: capturing total solar eclipses using time-elapsed photography, as well as composing the scores for each piece (above). He sees this as a lifelong project, hoping to experience and film as many eclipses as possible and then merge them all together into a compilation he calls Totality.
Between film projects Mallery is continuously developing his record project hover , which he describes as a "euphoric groove exploration". The next work, titled "Possible Bliss", is due to be released this year.
