MarCello Suzzani (MARS) [Rustless]

Marcello was born in Milan on 10/04/1976. As a child, he’s fascinated by both the classical symphonic music for orchestra and concerts for solo classical instruments and opera as well. He inherits such a passion from his father, a classical music lover. This fondness obviously influences his musical taste: The first time he listens to the ‘fifth and nineth symphony’ by Ludwig van Beethoven, he has a sudden flash. At the age of 4, Mars discovers an electronic device by which he’s very interested and intrigued: the radio.For Marcello the radio is something like a game to play with and while listening to the radio programmes, he’s captured by the rhythm and blues and the pop rock music of artists such as Joe Cocker, James Brown, Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Bryan Ferry, Aretha Franklin, Cock Robin, Talk Talk, Mr. Mister, Elton john, Bee Gees, Boston, Eagles, Police, A-Ha, Huey Lewis & The News, Duran Duran, Level 42, Living In A Box, Europe, Madonna, Eurythmics, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Scorpions, Toto, Alberto Camerini, Kiss, Van Halen, Vanadium, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and other bands whose songs are frequently played on the radio.Marcello discovers he’s very fond of music and such a passion is confirmed by the emotions he feels while listening to the Genesis’ album ‘Foxtrot’, recorded on tape reel, which is the best form of magnetic audio tape recording then. We can state that such an experience leaves its mark on him. At this point of his life, his love for music gets into something more concrete: at the age of 12, he teaches himself playing bass.In 1990, Marcello experiences something that will bind him to the Rock and Heavy Metal music for ever: he feels great emotions while listening to the Black Sabbath album ’Tyr’. After some years of self-teaching, Marcello meets the Heavy Metal Vanadium band bass player Domenico Prantera, who teaches Marcello some technique on how to play such an instrument. Some years later, Mars studies with bass teacher Siro Burchiani, at the professional music school ‘CPM’ in Milan. In 1995, he’s asked to work as assistant on stage during the last Vanadium tour. But another group making its debut as a rock band, is favourably impressed by Marcello’s work. So the rock band Exilia decides to sign him up always as assistant on stage during their performances to promote their first album.With drummer Luigi Prantera and guitar player Massimo Praticò, Marcello founds his first band: Proxima. He will also play in other minor bands like N.S.R. In the meanwhile, Mars and the guitarist Massimo Praticò work on the composing of soundtracks and jingles for TV commercials.In 2002, the cover rock band Diumvana engages Marcello as bass player and choralist. That’s a great chance for him to go through a new musical experience because of the several gigs held during important summer events and in renowned haunts.
