About Me

RUSTLESS: "No way out" Unplugged 24/05/08 MEDIAWORLD Rescaldina (MI)RUSTLESS: I gotta clash with you - Tribano (PD)RUSTLESS: Streets of danger - Tribano (PD)..‘Here I am...’ Roberto’s story begins with these few and simple words. We are always looking for a reason why but in the end we see that we don’t need to go so far, for we already have all we need inside of us. That is what Roberto Zari realizes while listening for the first time to the song ‘Hunting high and low’, one of the most famous hits of the ’80s by the Norwegian pop band A-ha. Thanks to that beautiful song, Roberto understands what he wants to be in his life: a singer. That’s how his story begins… Born in the 1972, he founds his first cover band – The Flames -, at the age of 14. Roberto and his band explore different music genres and groups: from the above mentioned pop band A-ha, to the rock band Dire Straits and the heavy metal group Guns ‘n’ Roses as well... In short, a complete overview of the music of those years. After two years performing in live shows in Milan and its surroundings, he starts feeling like doing something more challenging: he wants to write his own songs. Thus, he decides to found, with the jazz pianist and guitar player Gilberto Angione, The Ordinary Tickets, a band inspiring to the Italian pop rock music. During its concerts, the band itself produces and distributes its 9 track album. He now feels he has improved his vocal skills. So he starts exploring new vocal expressions with his new band White Page, a Led Zeppelin tribute band founded in 1990. Keeping on performing in live shows, Roberto broadens his experience background and feels stronger on his vocal abilities during concerts. That’s why he wants to give a more professional touch to his passionate and istinctive way of singing: he takes opera classes with opera teacher Giovanna Soresina. Thanks to those singing classes he will feel much more confident in his developed skills during live performances. Towards the mid ‘90s, he shows interest in the progressive rock and that leads him to perform with the progressive rock band Proxima. But something emerges from the past and so there he goes again: his enthusiasm for The Led Zeppelin music prevails once more. The Presence, the tribute band of the legendary English quartet, wants Roberto to be its singer. He obviously accepts and, after that, The Presence is officially recognised by the Led Zeppelin Club Italia as tribute band. With them, Roberto begins performing abroad taking part in different festivals in Switzerland, not to mention the Rappeswill Blues ‘n’ Jazz Festival, where, during the same edition, made their performance singers like Robben Ford and Brian Auger. The Presence is interviewed during the radio program ‘Rock Files’, created and presented by Ezio Guaitamacchi, editor of the rock magazine “Jam”. That program will then be broadcasted on the radio station Lifegate. Among his most significant featurings, is the one with Clive Bunker, former drummer of the progressive rock band Jethro Tull. To be continued…
