Ubyk is the musical vehicle of executed I-D-E-A's by russian-born wildcard artist/singer/songwriter Roman Bleum. The band moniker, (pronounced oo-bik) is derived from legendary science-fiction writer Philip K. Dick’s story 'Ubik'. As partially explained in the story, Ubyk's (pronounced ooo-bik) music is another fine example of a quality product by Ubyk - a powerful and ambiguous organization that manufactures, distributes, and markets EVERYTHING in existence....including music.

As for the music itself, Bleum’s soothing vocal delivery perfectly compliments the band’s simple musical elements but neatly juxtaposes the cynical subject matter of his lyrics. Subtle build-ups, acoustic guitar textures, sound effects, and backing female vocals all come together to serve as an eerily relaxing vehicle to convey Ubyk’s blissfully haunting message.
The band recorded their first EP as a duo in 2008, with Roman Bluem and Samantha Tobey sharing Vocal/Instrumentaion duties and Alex Newport on the board. It is currently available on CDbaby and ITUNES!!! The group has since expanded into its current lineup, performing as a psi-fi, acoustic-rocking, five-piece with Roman on Guitar/Vocals augmented by backup vocalists Jamila Heron and Genevieve Artadi, guitarist Pelle Hillstrom, and drummer Rich Richell
Ubyk has toured the South/Northwest in the summer/fall of 06 in support of their first demo "work" and are currently playing live in a los angeles venue near you through the end of 2008!!!
