Metropolis is a vocally dynamic group blending R&B, hip-hop,
funk, classic soul and rock. Their music sparks emotion, sending
true music lovers into another world – a world void of
meaninglesslyrics, bland arrangements,and knockoff? talent
“I feel Metropolis sound will aid in taking music
to the next level. “We consider our music to be sort of a
rest haven for those who genuinely love and respect good
music,” says Carl Breeding, the CEO of CarMicheal Music Group
, an Atlanta-based production
company.
Metropolis makes it clear that their
mission extends far beyond providing shake-yourbooty
tracks and club jingles. Metropolis feels it is their obligation to inspire, motivate and uplift people with
powerful and heartfelt music, reminiscent of seasoned soul
music, but injected with modern hip-hop, Rock-n-Roll and
R&B flavors. “We are in this business to produce good
music. We want our music to do more than make you
groove, we want our music to arouse emotion and take our
listeners to a higher state of mind and energy,” Metropolis
member Jai Black explains. Amongst many, one of the
ultimate goals of Metropolis is to refashion, revive and renew
music to a more universal state. “To us, it is not only about
inventing new styles but it is about renewing old ones,” says
Metropolis member Jamarlyn, enthusiastically. “We
want to carry forth the torches of musical icons like
Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye and Earth, Wind & Fire
with a musical curve inspired by legends like The Beatles,
James Taylor and Elton John,” group member, Dominique adds.
Metropolis believes there are key elements to becoming
a successful music group. “Just like in a marriage, you
have ups and downs. You evolve and grow. You get to
know one another and the elements that make up each
personality,” says Atlanta native Jai Black, whom Metropolis
agrees is the peacemaker and crazy glue of the group.
The group firmly admits they have shared both ups and
downs during their struggles to success. Metropolis
member Calvin Glass quickly points out, “In this industry
[music industry] only those who are persistent, committed
and focused survive"
“We all have distinct differences, but each difference adds
a unique blend to this union,” says Los Angeles Jamarlyn McClinton, dubbed “Mr. Outspoken” by the group.
