ADD POLICY...:
We NEVER (and never will) add persons at random. If we've added you ourselves, then it means that we have been to your Myspace-page, and liked what we've seen or read :)
Basically, if you're into streetpunk, punkrock, ska, oi, rock'n'roll, etc. and/or you carry the heart on the spot, or if you like the same bands like we do, well, chances are that we add you. Don't worry, we wont bomb you with useless publicity or plain shite. It would be cool to meet you at one of our shows, or to find out what you think about our music. And if you don't like us, you can always deny the request, right?
This is not some kind of add-competition or about having as many friends as possible. Fuck that. On the other hand, mainstream (and even underground) zines/radiostations/webzines/recordlabels have never been too keen on our band, and we don't have sponsors (like most bands have nowadays). So no budget to spend on advertising, no huge promoter to back us up, no promoteam that spreads millions of flyers for us.Which is OK; we work(ed) hard for all this little band accomplished, and never had to s**k c**k for anything. So this Myspace-thingie kinda helps to get our name across.
Havin said that, feel free to add us yourself. Communicate. After all, this is the purpose of this thingie, right? Getting to know new people, and getting to know what people think about your band (be it good or bad).
THE STORY SO FAR... (bio):
Mise-En-Scene (pronounce as "Mies-on-seine") started way back at the end of 1995 in a place called Deinze, near Ghent (Belgium). Some young people who got interested in punk and hardcore, decided to make some noise, and after a few months, M*e*s started rehearsing with a stable line up. Although we still had to find a good name for the band, we were all fond of the idea to pick "something else" as a name for the band. So the name "Mise*En*Scene" was chosen, despite the fact that we're not French(speaking).
After a few shows with bands like Discipline, Funeral Dress, The Dirty Scums, a MCD containing 8 raw songs were recorded. This MCD is completely sold out. The sound quality sucked as hell, but it was loud, that's for sure!!
In May 2000 the band decided to call it quits: each member went his own way. But M*E*S wasn't done with this world... Earlier efforts to restart the band didn't succeed, but somewhere in 2002, the input of 2 new members finally paid off. The sound was refreshed a bit, some new influences were put into our music (more streetpunk, and bit of ska). A split-CD with a Finnish band called The Divisive was released on FULL CONTACT RECORDS. This CD came out on 6 December 2002, and is completely sold out by now.
A tour with The Dirty Scums followed (The Dirty Scene Tour), some real good comments on the band's performance were made, and after this (Belgian) tour, M*e*s got the chance to play London twice, and to tour Germany and Czeh Republic in July 2004. We played with bands such as Anti-Flag, Conflict, Leftover Crack, Anti-Nowhere League, The Casualties, The Real McKenzies and many others.
A full-CD was being released on September 1st (2004), through German label SHOCKROCKRECORDS. First reviews were great, receiving good comments from leading 'zines like Aardschok and Punk&Oi in the UK. Talking of the UK, the band did a small tour in England in November 2004, which turned out to be a big success.
In 2005, the band celebrates it's 10th anniversary. 3 special anniversary shows ("10 years of M*E*S-sing up") were held to celebrate this.
Another tour (2005), bringing us to countries like Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Germany and Czech Republic, proved to be the best tour so far: good shows from our side, a great response from the crowd, lotsa fun & one helluva blast, which is what M*E*S is all about. In May 2006, we released our EP "Colours of the Night", 8 tracks of hardcore skanking punkrock.
Meanwhile, we've toured Scotland (something we all wanted to do for a long time), and in the summer of 2006, we toured in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Hungary and Czech Republic.
In Autumn 2006, we started working on our next album. So far, we finished half a dozen of songs, and permit us this self confidence; they're by far the best songs we've ever written... We plan on releasing this full-album by the end of 2007. And that's not the only thing happening in 2007... We've featured in "The National IQ-Test" (both in Flanders and in Wallonia), we'll do a full-UK tour, and during summer our most extensive tour so far. Busy, busy...
We cannot say what the future, but one thing's for sure: every drop of sweat on the stage is dedicated to YOU !!!
