Satoshi Date was born in Tokyo. He studied Fashion Design, Women’s Wear at Central Saint Martin’s College.Satoshi Date incorporates art, painting, music, photography and video into his vibrant style of design. His fashion collections express the intimate relationship between the senses of sound, sight and touch in an attempt to reengage and invigorate lost emotions.His creativity and inspiration comes from delving into individual minds, observing expressions whilst listening to their communications.Satoshi Date’s workmanship is admired for the unique formations, textures and individual interpretation to his environment and art. He aims to connect with an individual’s personality and character whilst following the continuous line of the body to make the wearer feel beautiful. He produces his own intricate felt from organic wool and creates hand-painted canvas. He chooses to use interesting fabrics and textures to stimulate touch and demonstrate the fine distinctiveness and exquisite handmade fabrics in countenance to harsh mass produced products.His work has been exhibited and published in London and Tokyo. One of his silk garments was awarded winner of the ‘Silk Road Competition’ by the British Library and selected for their prestigious exhibition in August 2004. His work has also been shown for project ‘Phantasmagoria’ at the Hayward Gallery in October 2004. His work was shown at London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2008 and The Ethical Fashion Show in Paris in October 2007. His clothes are available in Boutique Frost in Berlin and upcoming exhibition with his all creation inc. art, music, video and spring/summer 2009 clothing collection at Old boy’s club in London in June
