Rhoda Dakar
Rhoda began her career with the 2 Tone movement, as lead vocalist with all-female band the Bodysnatchers. The singles, ‘Do Rocksteady’ and ‘Easy Life’, took them into the charts and onto Top of the Pops. She went on to guest with the Specials, both live and on the More Specials album, duetting with Terry Hall on ‘I Can’t Stand It’. ‘The Boiler’, a tale of date rape, much played by John Peel, was recorded with a version of the Special AKA. A later incarnation recorded the ‘In The Studio’ album, from which came the acclaimed single ‘Free Nelson Mandela’. Rhoda's first solo album, 'Cleaning In Another Woman's Kitchen', will be released on the Moon Ska World label in May 07.Rhoda was recently seen on the BBC series "Soul Brittania".
Jennie Matthias
Jennie matthias shot to fame in the eighties with all-girl band the Belle Stars, enjoying hits like ‘The Clapping Song’, ‘Sign Of The Times’ and ‘Iko Iko’, which was also a top ten hit in the USA and was featured in the film ‘Rain Man’. Jennie also sang with Paul Weller on The Jam’s top 5 single, ‘The Bitterest Pill’. She recorded the track ‘Mixed Feelings’ with Gaz Mayall's Trojans and, in the early 90's, formed the ska punk band Big 5 with Nick Welsh, releasing three cd's. Jennie also teamed up with Rhoda in the short lived ‘Ska Diva’, alongside Pauline Black from The Selecter. Today jennie is a much in-demand songwriter and performer.
Nick Welsh
Nick has written, played and produced with artists like Bad Manners, Busters Allstars, The Selecter, Selecter Acoustic, Prince Buster, Dave Barker, King Hammond, Laurel Aitken, Judge Dread, Rico Rodriguez, Rhoda Dakar, 3 men & black and is now fronting his own band, Skaville UK. He also writes music for T.V. (The Osbournes, Malcolm in the Middle), computer games (Smackdown versus Raw 2006, Day of Reckoning 2) and the big screen (Domino, The Magic Roundabout). In 2002 Nick won a Grammy award for his work on the Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry album ‘Jamaican ET’ and was the MD on the live DVD ‘The Ultimate Alien’
