I am here for Friends

About Me

Jennie @ home.
As you may have guessed I am a fan of The Belle Stars and thought I'd set this page up as a mini-tribute to them. I saw them live in 1982 and I "appeared" in their video for Sweet Memory in 1983. How great to find out that Jennie was on myspace too and still recording.
One day, I hope to see the release of The Belle Stars second album. The Belle Stars split up just before it was due for release - some of the songs are featured on their live DVD Live Signs, Live Times.
Three of them decided to carry on as The Belle Stars, Miranda, Lesley and Sarah-Jane and they released one single, World Domination, which was a dance floor hit in the US. They also recorded an album which was never released!
So there are two Belle Stars albums out there begging to be released!
Check out my new Belle Stars website www.thebellestars.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk - it's my first attempt and it's still a work in progress but I hope it will become more informative as the weeks go by.
Jennie's collaborated with loads of artists on myspace. Check them out!
THE DANCE BRIGADE
Jennie's new band March 2008.
THE RADIOSTARS
SKA-COUSTICA!
THE BELLE STARS
THE BELLE STARS (trio)
DANCE LIKE A MOTHER - RARE VIDEO available at last! This is a band Jennie and Melissa set up after Jennie left The Belle Stars.

My Interests

THE BELLE STARS
80's all-girl band and totally under-rated. They had a few hits with Sign of the Times, Sweet Memory, Iko Iko and The Clapping Song but their best songs were their own.
Also, love the music of Kirsty MacColl. I never met Kirsty but felt I knew her as I loved her music and her live gigs were brilliant. She seemed to have a dry sense of humour which I really liked. I cannot express how I felt when I heard she had died, especially in such a tragic way. Miss her.

I'd like to meet:

ALL The Belle Stars (I've met one so 6 to go!), Jennifer Garner, Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders. Would like to meet Ricky Gervais providing he didn't take the p*ss out of me. My friends do a good enough job of that!

Music:

THE BELLE STARS, Kirsty MacColl, Soft Cell, Marc Almond, Strawberry Switchblade, Shakespear's Sister, The Smiths, Kaiser Chiefs, Coldplay, Lily Allen, The Pipettes, Depeche Mode, Voice of the Beehive, Bananarama, Bis, Madonna, Red Jen, Red Treasure, Big 5 with the hunky Nick Welsh, The Cure, kd lang, Suzanne Vega, Mark Owen, Depeche Mode, The Sugarcubes, The Raincoats, Lloyd Cole & The Commotions, Echo & The Bunnymen, The The, Madness, Scissor Sisters, The Eurythmics, Erasure, The Housemartins, Madness, The Men They Couldn't Hang, Kissing The Pink

Movies:

DONNIE DARKO.
TEAM AMERICA - WORLD POLICE - MATT DAMON!!! Love this film!!!!!
SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE - I'm a sucker for a chick flick!

Television:

ALIAS. I am addicted to this show. Jennifer Garner is amazing as CIA agent Sydney Bristow and the storylines are fast paced, intelligent, witty, confusing and the list goes on! I have now watched Season 5 and am sooooooo sad it's over! Have managed to get a few people at my workplace addicted to it too. I am really going to miss it as Season 5 is the last ever season.
LOST is good but no substitute to Alias.
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA - new version is great.
THE GHOST WHISPERER, HOUSE, A TOWN CALLED EUREKA, MEDIUM, CHARMED, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, UGLY BETTY - I like spooky, creepy, suspenseful (and amusing) stuff. Really enjoying HEROES at the moment.
KYLE XY Love love love this show!

THE FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS - Bret you got it going on

Books:

Harry Potter, Dean Koontz, Stephen King (except for Cell which was rubbish). ..
