About Me

McKnight guitars are sold by God's grace*Double tops *Double sides *Hollow backs_______________________________________________________ ____ McKnightguitars.com COME AND EXPERIENCE THE DIAMONDhttp://roadtripguitar.com/mcknight-guitars/__________ ____________________________________________________________ ________________________________________ The other forumites who spent time with this lovely instrument have pretty much nailed everything down. Yet it is interesting that everyone is hearing much the same thing. Ultra responsive, heavily sustaining tone, tone that is awash with color and character that swells and builds and a seemingly topless headroom. There were a few elements that stuck me as familiar but in a very different way. The first thing that grabbed my attention was that this intelligent design seems to produce more of everything. The coloration that good Brazilian gives to tone was there, but there was more of it there. The sound board sang, but sang like Ethel Merman on the stage. The tone you expect from Italian Brazilian combo was there but in an uber-there kind of way. It's funny how the brain works, but it put me to mind of what is was like to taste a single bean chocolate bar compared to what I had once defined as Hershey...POW. Or black raspberries/raspberries, creme brulee/pudding, an '83 Cabernet. In short, a redefining moment of what the next level feels like. Yea, the guitar, at least to me, was that good. I attribute this to more than just a double top or to just the double back or the laminated sides. Each of these are interesting ideas in and of themselves, but the combination doesn't just add up, it's exponential. Add to these design criteria what seems to be a highly refined understanding, and execution, of bracing and tuning and you have what might be a market changer. Tim spent a bit of time, and likely considerably more money, with Erwin Somogyi and it shows. I think if Erwin could have foreseen that Tim would take so much away from their time together, he may have charged him twice as much. In every sense, the diamond is an instrument that has abilities that are limited only by the player. With everything going on in this guitar, it was still controlled. The overtones never completely took over and the balance is spot on, making it rather well behaved and easy to coax. Playing tunes that like to breath is a pure delight to the player; you just languish in the swelling that comes out of its belly. I think I remember hearing that guitars, being very inefficient producers of sound, only translate 3% of the string energy into sound production. Tim's darling found a few more percentage points for sure. I don't think there is one bit of tone locked up or trapped anywhere in this baby. Playability is just perfect and just as comfortable above the 10th fret as between the 3rd and seventh. Setup is low, slick and buzz free. As I told Tim, this is a real accomplishment. Right after that remark we started talking about a project together. I figured I better start talking to him now before the rest of the world finds out about him and pushes his prices or wait list beyond my reach! To me, the Diamond firmly establishes Tim as very talented world class builder with a unique voice offering a compelling, brilliantly conceived instrument. Thx for reaching out to me for the road trip Tim; if you can't tell, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. ____________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________We advertise in: Acoustic Guitar and Finger style Magazines. ___________________________________________________________O ur guitars are now being enjoyed by our wonderful customers in Africa, Europe, Canada, and all over the USA. ____________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________Ou r guitar players have toured with Brooks and Dunn, Jake Owen, Dolly Parton, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood,Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson, Sugarland, Tim Stafford, Little Big Town, Blake Shelton, Overall Brothers... just to name a few. ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________You have found that critical balance between light enough and too light to get a genuine 30's vintage Martin sound while adding finesse to the tonal envelop as well. While using a wide variety of domestic and exotic tone woods, McKnight seeks to build the highest quality instruments that are light weight and very responsive while offering harmonic tones that are rich in sustain. Having worked under the watchful eye of Ervin Somogy, he has learn to master the technology to create the bracing that allows his guitars to excel in a manner that no other compares. The innovative design of the side sound ports make these guitars much more appreciative to the ear. One needs to experience the Diamond, which debuts at the Healdsburg Guitar Festival, 2007. Each guitar is hand built to the specs of a customer's desires. Being hand made, no two guitars are ever alike. ____________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________Th e Diamond" is one of McKnight's finest guitars. Music:

Mr. Tom Young playing his McKnight Guitar. (Thanks, Tom!)

Movies:

Tim and I would like to thank Scott Smith of Tampa, FL for this amazing recording of 'Waltz for Rebecca' on the McKnight Diamond. Add to that, his incredible ability to beautifully display the McKnight Diamond on YouTube for the world to see. Fantastic job, Scott! Thanks!

Television:

The Diamond was 'the featured guitar' on the official Newport/Miami Guitar show in April 2008 website. It was the guitar that opened the Koa Stage with Mr. Chris Proctor of Salt Lake City, Utah as the first artist to display his talents. He did a fantastic job! Newspaper, magazine and television crews were on hand to view the many luthier products. We would like to extend a personal thank you to Marcy and Henry Lowenstein, owners of the show, who made our trip as perfect as any top quality show could claim to be. Thank you, also to his staff.
