Lead me not into temptation....I can find the way myself

About Me

Hard question as I hate talking about myself.
Am a Scots girl born and bred, not that you'd ever know from my accent - that's what comes of having an English mother and Scottish father who spent his formative years growing up in England. Not that I sound particularly English, just a bit neutral; English and Welsh friends reckon I sound Scottish, but the number of times I've been accused of being English by fellow Scots, well lets just say it gets my back up!

You're Bettie Page!

What Classic Pin-Up Are You?
Your Birthdate: January 29
Your birthday on the 29th adds a tone of idealism to your nature.
You are imaginative and creative, but rather uncomfortable in the business world.
You are very aware and sensitive, with outstanding intuitive skills and analytical abilities.
The 29 reduces to 11, one of the master numbers which often produces much nervous tension.
This is the birthday of the dreamer rather than the doer.
You do, however, work very well with people. What Does Your Birth Date Mean?
Your Candy Heart Says "Hug Me"
A total sweetheart, you always have a lot of love to give out.
Your heart is open to where ever love takes you!
Your ideal Valentine's Day date: a surprise romantic evening that you've planned out
Your flirting style: lots of listening and talking
What turns you off: fighting and conflict
Why you're hot: you're fearless about falling in love What Does Your Candy Heart Say?
Your Theme Song is Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd
"There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves."
You haven't been feeling a lot lately, and you think that's a good thing.
The comfortable part is nice... but you should really work on numb. What's Your Theme Song?
Please be aware that I'm here to keep in touch with my friends from around the UK (and the rest of the world). I tend to only add people I know or bands who's music I like so save yourself some bother, and only get in touch if you know me or think I'll like your music...

My Interests

Friends whether they are near or far, in touch every day, or only occasionally, are an important part of my life. It takes a while for me to fully trust a new acquantance, but once I do I plan on keeping them as a friend for life. (OK, that sounds a little freaky, but I'm sure you get the general idea!)

I'd like to meet:

Paul Stanley, Peter Criss, Richard E Grant, Joss Whedon, Andy Hallett (again), Nuno Bettencourt, my friends, new bands...

Music:

Favourite band of all time is Kiss (and by association the number 1 european kiss tribute band Dressed to Kill ), but do have a fairly eclectic taste in music, have a real mixture of 70's rock, 80's pop and rock, 90's rock, well you get the idea. Favourite new band are Red Star Rebels - super cool and very talented bunch of sleazy assed musicians who had me hooked within 30 seconds of seeing them live for the first time.
Other musical likes are many and varied.
a-ha and Wet Wet Wet are the loves of my early teenage years.
Then came Extreme, and from there we go to Aerosmith, Guns N Roses, Motley Crue, Skid Row, Queen, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Nine Inch Nails, David Bowie, Terrorvision, Iron Maiden, Type O Negative and Pink Floyd.
Then there is Harry Connick Jnr. Beautiful music sung with a lot of passion, great for relaxing to.
By no means an exhaustive list, but one that may give an insight into the weird and wonderful thing that is my CD collection...

Movies:

Aliens, American Pie, Batman Begins, Benny & Joon, Bugsy Malone, Calendar Girls, Chasing Amy, Clue, The Corpse Bride, Coyote Ugly, Cube, Detroit Rock City, Dogma, Donnie Darko, The Fisher King, The Green Mile, Harry Potter, Kinky Boots, K-Pax, Lord of The Rings Trilogy, The Lost Boys, Mallrats, Monsters Inc, Once Upon a Time In Mexico, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Pirates Of The Caribbean, Preaching To The Perverted, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Serenity, Shaun Of The Dead, Shrek (1 & 2), Singin' In The Rain, Star Wars (Episodes IV, V and VI), Still Crazy, The Sixth Sense, Spiderman, Watership Down, Wah-Wah, Withnail & I, X-Men (1 & 2), Yellow Submarine

Television:

Joss Whedon is a god. From that you'll realise that I am a bit of a Buffy and Angel fan. I also love his western in space series Firefly which was cruelly axed before it's time.
Other TV faves are Lost, Doctor Who (David Tennent grew up 5 miles from where I live!), Life On Mars, Hustle, Sea of Souls, Smallville, Battlestar Galactica (new one), Desparate Housewives, Farscape, Twin Peaks.

Books:

I love reading. Favourite authors include (but not limited to) Terry Pratchett, Stephen King, Jasper Fforde, Iain (M) Banks, Lauren Henderson and Tad Williams.
Comics - I adore the X-Men, but only recently started reading any X-Men comics. Once again Joss Whedon is god and the story arc he is developing in Astonishing X-Men is fab.
And then there is Mike Kunkel's nostalgic view of childhood in the wonderful Hero Bear and The Kid

Heroes:

Joss Whedon is god - nuff said!

Also Richard E Grant is not only a talented actor and writer, but also a rather fantastic director. His directorial (and film writing debut) is Wah-Wah and it is fabulous.

My mum was a wonderful person who never found life easy to understand, but never gave up - she fought right to the end - I love you mum - RIP
