Tomas Liska

Born in October 1979 in Rakovnik, Czech Republic. He began his musical career at the age of 18 as a bass guitar player. From 2000 he studied acoustic bass at the “Conservatory of Jaroslav Jezek” in Prague, with Petr Korinek as his tutor and soon became a presence on the local jazz scene, appearing with an array of musicians at the city's most important jazz clubs and festivals. In 2004 he finished studying and in the same year he passed the entrance examination to the “Jazz College of Jaroslav Jezek” in Prague with Jaromir Honzak as his professor.Together with the pianist Ondrej Kabrna he founded the latin-jazz band “Cuban Summer”. In 2005 he participated in the finals of “Getxo Jazz” in Spain with the David Doruzka Trio.He has also played throughout Europe. In 2006 at the Sofia International Jazz Festival “Jazz Peak” in Bulgaria he played in a duo with vibraphonist Radek Krampl.At the present time he cooperates on the international music scene with artists as diverse as Yvonne Sanchez, David Doruzka, Bob Montgomery, Rudy Linka, Beata Hlavenkova, Vibe Fantasy of Radek Krampl, Jamie Marshall, Prague Big Band, Cuban Summer, Kontraband of Milan Svoboda, Najponk, Veronika Diamant & Voxtory, Private Earthquake, Janem Sp..len.., Big Band of Felix Slovecek, Vera Martinova, Zuzana Norisova, Iva Frühlingová etc ...
