Lying is wrong; there are no valid justifications for lying and its wrongness does not pertain to the situation that it is told. It is everyone’s moral obligation to tell the truth.

Enormously diverse; limitless potential; bursting with life. These phrases can just as easily describe the people of Brazil as they can it's natural bounty.
There are few places on earth as heterogeneous as modern Brazil, whose colonizers came from all over the globe. They stayed on, inter-married with native Brazilians and have created the ethnic rainbow now found in this dynamic country of nearly 200 million people. One of the things that makes Brazil special is its fusion of races and influences resulting in something entirely new, unique and surprising.
Geography
Words do little justice to describe Brazil's geography. The fifth largest country in the world (and fifth largest in population), Brazil occupies nearly half of the land mass of the South American continent. This gigantic country occupies a total area of 3.3 million square miles (8.5 million sq km). It borders every South America country except Chile and Ecuador. Brazil is larger than the United States, if we exclude Alaska. It's also larger than continental Europe if we exclude Russia. Brazil's geography is divided in four distinct regions:
Atlantic Coast
Over 4500 miles of coastline from the border with the amazon basin in the north to the Uruguayan border in the south
Planalto Central (central plateau)
Expansive highlands located in a region that extends over most of Brazil's interior and south of the Amazon Basin.
Amazon Basin
The Amazon river is largest in the world. It carries 20% of the world's freshwater and brings more freshwater into the oceans than any other river system. It is estimated that over 1,000 rivers flow into the Amazon, ten of which carry more water than the Mississippi river.
South: Parana - Paranagua Basin
This area is half the size of France, and includes the world famous Pantanal Basin, a wetlands packed with wildlife, and the mighty Iguazu Falls on the triple-border with Argentina and Paraguay.
Language in Brazil
Language is one of the strongest elements of Brazil's national unity. Portuguese is spoken by nearly 100 percent of the population. The only exceptions are some members of Amerindian groups and pockets of immigrants, primarily from Japan and South Korea, who have not yet learned Portuguese. The principal families of Indian languages are TupÃ, Arawak, Carib, and Gê.
There is about as much difference between the Portuguese spoken in Brazil and that spoken in Portugal as between the English spoken in the United States and that spoken in the United Kingdom. Within Brazil, there are no dialects of Portuguese, but only moderate regional variation in accent, vocabulary, and use of personal nouns, pronouns, and verb conjugations. Variations tend to diminish as a result of mass media, especially national television networks that are viewed by the majority of Brazilians.
Brazilian Society & Culture
Brazilian Diversity
• Brazil is a mixture of races and ethnicities, resulting in rich diversity.
• Many original Portuguese settlers married native women, which created a new race, called 'mestizos'.
• 'Mulattoes' are descendents of the Portuguese and African slaves.
• Slavery was abolished in 1888, creating over time a further blurring of racial lines.
• Unlike many other Latin American countries where there is a distinct Indian population, Brazilians have intermarried to the point that it sometimes seems that almost everyone has a combination of European, African and indigenous ancestry.
Brazilian Family Values
• The family is the foundation of the social structure and forms the basis of stability for most people.
• Families tend to be large (although family size has been diminishing in recent years) and the extended family is quite close.
• The individual derives a social network and assistance in times of need from the family.
• Nepotism is considered a positive thing, since it implies that employing people one knows and trusts is of primary importance.
The Brazilian Class System
• Despite the mixing of ethnicities, there is a class system in Brazil.
• Few Brazilians could be described as racist, although social discrimination on the basis of skin colour is a daily occurrence.
• In general, people with darker brown skin are economically and socially disadvantaged.
• The middle and upper classes often have only brief interaction with the lower classes - usually maids, drivers, etc.
• Class is determined by economic status and skin colour.
• There is a great disparity in wage differentials--and therefore lifestyle and social aspirations--among the different classes
• Although women make up 40% of the Brazilian workforce, they are typically found in lower paid jobs such as teaching, administrative support, and nursing.
• The 1988 constitution prohibits discrimination against women, but inequities still exist. The one place where women are achieving equality is in the government.
Etiquette and Customs in Brazil
Meeting Etiquette
• Men shake hands when greeting one another, while maintaining steady eye contact.
• Women generally kiss each other, starting with the left and alternating cheeks.
• Hugging and backslapping are common greetings among Brazilian friends.
• If a woman wishes to shake hands with a man, she should extend her hand first.
Gift Giving Etiquette
• If invited to a Brazilian's house, bring the hostess flowers or a small gift.
• Orchids are considered a very nice gift, but avoid purple ones.
• Avoid giving anything purple or black as these are mourning colours.
• Handkerchiefs are also associated with funerals, so they do not make good gifts.
• Gifts are opened when received.
Dining Etiquette
If you are invited to a Brazilian's house:
• Arrive at least 30 minutes late if the invitation is for dinner.
• Arrive up to an hour late for a party or large gathering.
• Brazilians dress with a flair and judge others on their appearance. Casual dress is more formal than in many other countries. Always dress elegantly and err on the side of over-dressing rather than under- dressing.
• If you did not bring a gift to the hostess, flowers the next day are always appreciated.
Business Etiquette and Protocol in Brazil
Relationships & Communication
• Brazilians need to know who they are doing business with before they can work effectively.
• Brazilians prefer face-to-face meetings to written communication as it allows them to know the person with whom they are doing business.
• The individual they deal with is more important than the company.
• Since this is a group culture, it is important that you do not do anything to embarrass a Brazilian.
• Criticizing an individual causes that person to lose face with the others in the meeting.
• The person making the criticism also loses face, as they have disobeyed the unwritten rule.
• Communication is often informal and does not rely on strict rules of protocol. Anyone who feels they have something to say will generally add their opinion.
• It is considered acceptable to interrupt someone who is speaking.
• Face-to-face, oral communication is preferred over written communication. At the same time, when it comes to business agreements, Brazilians insist on drawing up detailed legal contracts.
Business Negotiation
• Expect questions about your company since Brazilians are more comfortable doing business with people and companies they know.
• Wait for your Brazilian colleagues to raise the business subject. Never rush the relationship- building time.
• Brazilians take time when negotiating. Do not rush them or appear impatient.
• Expect a great deal of time to be spent reviewing details.
• Often the people you negotiate with will not have decision-making authority.
• It is advisable to hire a translator if your Portuguese is not fluent.
• Use local lawyers and accountants for negotiations. Brazilians resent an outside legal presence.
• Brazilian business is hierarchical. Decisions are made by the highest-ranking person.
• Brazilians negotiate with people not companies. Do not change your negotiating team or you may have to start over from the beginning.
Business Meeting Etiquette
• Business appointments are required and can often be scheduled on short notice; however, it is best to make them 2 to 3 weeks in advance.
• Confirm the meeting in writing. It is not uncommon for appointments to be cancelled or changed at the last minute.
• In Sao Paulo and Brasilia it is important to arrive on time for meetings. In Rio de Janeiro and other cities it is acceptable to arrive a few minutes late for a meeting.
• Do not appear impatient if you are kept waiting. Brazilians see time as something outside their control and the demands of relationships takes precedence over adhering to a strict schedule.
• Meetings are generally rather informal.
• Expect to be interrupted while you are speaking or making a presentation.
• Avoid confrontations. Do not appear frustrated with your Brazilian colleagues.
Dress Etiquette
• Brazilians pride themselves on dressing well.
• Men should wear conservative, dark coloured business suits. Three-piece suits typically indicate that someone is an executive.
• Women should wear suits or dresses that are elegant and feminine with good quality accessories. Manicures are expected.
Business Cards
• Business cards are exchanged during introductions with everyone at a meeting.
• It is advisable, although not required, to have the other side of your business card translated into Portuguese.
• Present your business card with the Portuguese side facing the recipient.
Traditions
Capoeira is a fluid and dynamic martial art, created by runaway African slaves in Brazil to defend themselves against the superior firepower of the slave owners who came looking for them.
Candomble is a blending of Catholic and African relgious practices that holds a unique place in Brazilian society.
'Futebol', or soccer as we know it in the U.S., is a sport invented by the English, adopted by South America as its passion, and, many would argue, perfected in Brazil.
I am into running, camping, hiking, horseback riding, fishing or any activity involving the outdoors. I practice Brazilian Jujitsu and I enjoy playing soccer. I try to watch as much world cup soccer coverage (..1 Confederao Brasileira de Futebol) when it is on and I can tolerate watching football and hockey. I like the Detroit Redwings and the Pistons, but just because I was born in Michigan doesn’t mean that I like the Lions and the Tigers. I love music and attending concerts. I love to cook. For some strange reason, I like working outside in the yard (planting, mowing, and other maintenance). I am addicted to myspace.com (J/k) I like to travel. For the first time in my life, I can say that I really enjoy my job. I started working last year for a Biotech company in New Jersey.
Most importantly, I have some really great friends who have been there for me throughout the years. Some longer than others, others have more recently entered into my life. I love them all the same. Without good friends I would be nothing, with their friendship I can get through anything. Some of my friends are scattered all about, others are as close as the next town or a long drive to south Jersey. One thing is for sure, it doesn't matter if I see them everyday at work or once a year on vacation; they all share the same characteristics of being great people and we always have such a great time spending time together. Thank you all for your friendship.

Music plays a major role in my life. I have done promotional work for bands through Island records, Streetwise, Roadrunner records, and Sony records. I have promoted a number of bands such as Slipknot, CKY, Static-x, Papa Roach, Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against the Machine, Soulfly, Taproot, Mudvane, System of a Down, and many more.
Music also represents feelings that I may be feeling at a particular moment or a means to relax after a stressful day. I listen to just about all types, except a select few (like country, I dont understand it). I have been drawn to expanding my musical tastes over the years. Its hard for me to say that I like one type over another because it totally depends on the mood that I am in. Sometimes I feel like playing some classic rock or stuff like Sam Cook or the Beetles. Other days Im jamming to bands like NIN, Tool, or System of a Down. I have the most eclectic CD collection that is probably over 1000 in count by now that ranges from all types of music. I would have to say that I relate to harder stuff though, because those are the only shows that I attend regularly. I am always open to new types of music and up and coming bands. I enjoy checking out new bands and taking suggestions from people about good bands that I am not familiar with.
I am a huge supporter of the satellite radio community, mainly Sirius, due to the fact that finally we have a medium available that plays kick ass music 24 hours a day without censorship! There are some great stations such as the Faction and Octane that play heavier shit than what has been played on boring old terrestrial radio. I grew up in an era where fans of my type of music were limited to late-night radio broadcasts from rebel radio dj’s or very few kick ass stations like “WSOU – Pirate Radio†here in Jersey back in the day before they sold out. I am sure some of you also remember the Head Banger’s Ball BEFORE Matt Pinfield. That shit was tight. I remember seeing my first Korn (Blind) and Tool (Sober) video on that show. My friends and I used to stay up until like 4:00AM on a Saturday night to watch that show. (Remember the days Josh? Lol) Now, it is so much easier to hear great music. I have completely converted over both inside my home and in my car to satellite radio.
***Support the Pod casting world!***
Why listen to what the industry considers good music when you have the power to broadcast your own style of music? Buy an Ipod or if you already have one and haven't checked this out yet, do it! If you don't like what you hear, at least you have the power to change it. KROCK sucks! I'm tired of hearing the same stuff over and over again on the radio. Here are a few pod casts that I have been listening to that are really good: NYUB, Industrial Radio, Insomnia Radio, and the Tragically Nameless. Check them out and tell me if you suggest others.

glumbert - Sexual Consent
Thank you my friend for helping me realize the biggest mistake I have ever made before it was too late and I was in too deep. You helped me see through the lies and realize that I was being taken advantage by a selfish plastic queen. She is so fake and things have a way of coming back around, she will see. (three fold)
