About Me

I am a Sanguinarian, a professional business owner,a commercial writer, a mediocre poet, an aspiring photojournalist, a dance student, a bisexual, a Libertarian, a divorcee, a mom, a (choosy) swinger, a D/s switch, a recovering coupla things, I'm uh over 30, mature but still silly...funny but prone to gut-wrenching dark phases...easy to talk to and compassionate but busy and rather self-centered at times.
Finding my way on MySpace has been a bit of a challenge...I'm active in at least 3 or 4 lifestyles which do not necessarily mesh naturally-I've always had friends from different groups, some of which I have overlapped carefully on occasion. Not that I'm not myself in all cases- I'm just versatile by choice, and I wonder how to present all aspects of myself without alienating some friends or potential friends. Then again, I'm probably not that important. By the way, lemming does not appear in my resume.
Quote(s) of the Moment: (Mostly stuff from movies at the moment- how unoriginal of me, sorry *grin*)
"All the lessons of history in four sentences:
Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad with power.
The mills of God grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly small.
The bee fertilizes the flower it robs.
When it is dark enough, you can see the stars."
---Charles A. Beard
...what... good is it to tell you you are in my every thought from the time I wake? What good can come from my saying I-- I sometimes cannot think clearly, or- or do my work properly? What gain can rise from my telling you... the only time I feel fear as others do, is when I think of you in harm? That is why I am on this porch, Ivy Walker. I fear for your safety above all others. And yes... I will dance with you on our wedding night.
---Joaquin Phoenix, The Village
"...and she is led by love. The world moves for love. It kneels before it in awe."
---John Hurt, The Village
"We need a witness to our lives. There's a billion people on the planet... I mean, what does any one life really mean? But in a marriage, you're promising to care about everything--the good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things--all of it, all the time, every day. You're saying, 'Your life will not go unnoticed because I will notice it. Your life will not go un-witnessed because I will be your witness."
---Susan Sarandon, Shall We Dance?
"The rumba is the vertical expression of a horizontal wish. You have to hold her, like the skin on her thigh is your reason for living. Let her go, like your heart's being ripped from your chest. Throw her back, like you're going to have your way with her right here on the dance floor. And then finish, like she's ruined you for life."
---Jennifer Lopez, Shall We Dance?

Misc. personality notes:

I personally don't see race, religion or nationality as a barrier, only as another layer that makes each individual uniquely interesting. At the same time, I don't have much patience with what some people consider "political correctness" (although the quickest way to turn me off is to use a racial slur).
I have an affinity with those who appreciate the nontraditional aesthetic- perhaps those who find the sum of a woman, or a man, to be most attractive.
I have an intense dislike for dishonesty and manipulation. However, nobody's perfect, including me.
I'm dying to learn to play the piano and drums, take singing lessons, ballroom and swing dancing lessons, attend photography classes, master the Spanish language, go scuba diving, practice Tae-Bo, skydive at least once, try acting again and go horseback riding and skating for the first time since I was a kid (a badly broken leg ruined both). I'd also like to learn how to ride a bike and whistle (not necessarily simultaneously)...I have never done either. I have been told that I have an artisan mentality, and I love to soak up new experiences, so I am open to lots of activities including theatre, concerts, art (especially photography) exhibits, you name it, I might just try it :).

Pretentious Personal Quote:
"Class is not defined by numerical values, the color of one's collar nor the height of one's heel, but by one's philosophies, attitudes and behaviors." ---Me

I'd like to meet:

If anything in my profile resonates with others, perhaps an introduction is in order. In other words, I'd like to meet others who run with scissors, or enjoy those who do ;)
Those who are condescending or presumptuous are discouraged, unless you fuckers make it fun. Folks with dishonest motives, no matter how justified they may feel, are most unwelcome ::imperious sniff::

Sometimes We Find Ourselves on the Other Side of it

You do come with such force, these
nights you leave me waiting
until the hour closest to
light, wringing my hands. You
step in my doorway, your
shining teeth hiding the secrets of
the deepest riverbottoms,

slip beneath the currents
smacking the wet stone,
you littered feather, you leaf,
green as the first day of summer.

Your lips are always moving,
always weaving words like
interchangeable parts of a half-built boat,
humming the deep satin rumble
of electric drills.

The clocks have stopped around me;
the sundial hesitates, planning,
holding its breath to see what happens next.

I am endless on the shore,
face full of fairytales,
hands prematurely tying bits of sodden string
to my littlest finger.
I am an empty bottle on the
edge of dirty waves,
swirling the sand's unmentionables,
no secret messages,
no faded yellow pleasures corked within.

What Fictional Vampire Archtype are You?

Television:

Law & Order & SVU addict. Crossing Jordan (Jill Hennessy addict too). I always end up watching everything when it becomes reruns: early Designing Women, The Twilight Zone, ER, China Beach, Life Goes On, Friends, Ellen, the Rosanne Halloween episodes. I occasionally indulge in a tacky miniseries like East of Eden or Lace. If I'm not careful I get sucked into MTV Cribs and Pimp My Ride, or reality shows like The Real World, Joe Schmoe or Survivor (those are the most fun to watch with others- "OMG I can't believe he just said that!" etc). Ren & Stimpy, Beavis & Butthead, the original Scooby Doo. Vintage comedy such as The Carol Burnett Show and Flip Wilson. I'm likely to land on anything when I'm flipping, particularly A&E, The Learning Channel, The Travel Channel (Great Hotels' Samantha Brown is so damn cute). History, Discovery, Animal Planet, MSNBC, etc. I do have a special hatred for such shows as professional wrestling, the Springer & Lake monstrosities or anything with a title such as "Flesh-Eating Virus" (come on, Health Channel, jeez!).
About Ghoul A Go-Go:

Which Girl Interrupted character are you?
Susanna Kaysen
You are the main character, a Girl, Interrupted. You have a borderline personality and were admitted to Claymore after chasing a bottle of aspirin with a bottle of vodka. You ended being up a successful writer after your release, just like Sylvia Plath.

Books:

I read voraciously. At the moment, I most enjoy books that I can forget I'm even reading- great storytellers, like Stephen King, Robin Cook, Ken Follet, Jonathan Kellerman, Michael Crichton, older John Grisham, Scott Turow, Vincent Bugliosi (I'm a true crime fan as well) etc. Love Lawrence Sanders' Archy McNally series too, and Ann Rice's Vampire and Witch series. Sylvia Plath, Shirley Jackson, Robert Bloch, H.P. Lovecraft, Flannery O'Connor, Dickens, Poe; early 20th century authors, but I get annoyed when I'm bogged down in literary interpretation, so books are not brain food for me at this time- shameful. Nearly anything by Greenery Press, or with subject matter pertaining to the sex industry or courtesanship ("The Crimson Petal and the White" and "Madame Cleo's Girls" are recent favorites). Erotica...Anais Nin, Anne Rice as Anne Rampling & A.N. Roquelaire. Spirit food- Sylvia Brown and a bit of Marianne Williamson. Magazines: Glamour, People, Conde Nast Traveler, Vogue, Budget Living, Spin, PC Magazine, Consumer Reports, $$$pread and other off-the-beaten-path rags.

Heroes:

Bob Hope, Weird Al Yankovic, Courtney Love, Gwyneth Paltrow, Princess Diana, the Julia Sugarbaker character from "Designing Women". Some of my female clients- smart women who have a plan and stick to it no matter what, who succeed personally and professionally and never compromise their ethics (even if they are not the ethics of others)- women of strong character. Catherine Lecroix. Annie Sprinkle. People who are able to learn to be unapologetic for their quirks or imperfections, and who instead capitalize on or even enjoy them. Survivors...particularly those who continue go on no matter how bleak things may seem, or no matter graceless or halting their progress.
