Outrageous Woman, Seeks Other Outrageous People

About Me

The Headline I chose is taken from a caligraphy created for me when I turned 40 by my then best girlfriend, Reeve.I think it pretty much sums up my philosophy on life. It goes like this:"I want to be an Outrageous Older Woman, Who never gets called, Old Lady.I want to get leaner and meaner, Sharp-edged and Earth-toned, Till I fade away, from pure Joy."I have always marched to the beat of a different drummer. Oh, I've tried to conform to societal "norms" for a woman of my age, but I just can't, ( or maybe won't), do it! LOLI still love a good rock concert, and will continue to rock out as long as I can propel myself into a concert hall.Music and Promotion are the things that give me the most joy. (Besides my musician daughter that is).I'm 52 years old, but told I look much younger. A little plump, ( but losing). I've been divorced for more than 11 years now, and have a beautiful, 24 year old daughter who with her partner Joel, runs her own record label in Cincinnati. See www.myspace.com/mylenesheath I share my home with a chow/lab mixed dog, named Manson, (not named for Marilyn).I raised one biological daughter, and about a dozen of what I call my "adoptees". Sometimes they'd be kids my daughter would bring home, who were having a rough patch with their families and needed a helping hand.Sometimes they were kids who were "thrown away" because maybe they were gay, or maybe they just couldn't conform to their family's preconceived notion of who or what they should be.I truly believe that they gave me much more than I gave them. I can also happily report that almost every one of them have grown up to lead reasonably happy, productive, lives. In fact, several of them did manage to come to a meeting of the minds with their families. I think just having a breather from each other did the trick.Anyway, I still have "kids" who pop by frequently. So, anyone wanting to be my friend would have to be okay with that.I am a Financial Professional by day. ( It pays the bills, sort of). But it's my production/promotion company: NERVE DEAF PRODUCTIONS (www.4nervedeaf.com) that satisfies my creative urges, and makes me want to spring out of bed in the morning.Dedicated to fostering local art, music, and performance in the Alternative vein, I and my partner's produce events that we periodically put on around the city.Although raised in the Northeast, I've lived in the south since age 23, and I consider myself a Southerner.(despite the "yankee" accent I can't get rid of).New Orleans was my adopted home for more than 7 years and I loved it. (before Katrina and the speculators destroyed it.) I loved the architecture, the history, the ambience. I've been interested in the occult, and paranormal for many years, which is what attracted me to the city originally. I'll always miss her and the friends I made there. After much urging, I finally made a visit to my daughter's adopted city. Now I know why she chose it. Cincinnati is a beautiful city, with gorgeous parks, an incredible skyline, beautiful waterfronts, interesting architecture, vibrant nightlife, and OMG it's so cheap compared to Post-Katrina New Orleans!I finally took the plunge and moved there December 15th 2007. I'm loving it so far. I even got to see snow for the first time in 30 years. _________________________________ The video below is the creation of my daughter Lindsay, and several of her classmates from Full Sail University, Orlando, Florida. It was their entry in the 2004- Universal Studios 48 Hour Film Festival. Entrants were given only 48 hrs. to write, film, score, and edit a 5 minute film. This effort took 3rd Prize among dozens of entries. The piano interlude which ends the film is Lindsay's original piece, her first effort at film scoring.

My Interests

I'm obviously a music lover. I love going to concerts, plays, theater, anything in the arts.I'm into fitness in the sense that I'm trying to work out more, eat healthier. that kind of thing.I love the water, swimming, boating, the beach.I love motorcycles (can't ride worth a damn, but make a great "bitch-on-the-back" LOL).I love the Quarter on a Sunday afternoon, when the musicians and street performers are out in force.I love walking through Audubon Park, or marveling at the Antebellum Homes of the Garden District.I love books and reading. Poetry slams can actually be fun!I have a strong curiousity for the Paranormal, you know, things that go bump in the night. It was this curiousity that brought me to New Orleans.I have studied tarot, and researched hauntings and the like. I guess you'd say anything that awakens my intectually curiosity is going to interest me.My biggest interest? Promoting. Check out my website: www.4nervedeaf.com

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet people who have a bit of an "edge".By that, I mean people who live life under their own terms and think outside the box.I have no time for people who cannot enjoy a night out without getting drunk or stoned. I mean, there's nothing wrong with relaxing with a drink or two, or may be a little something of an organic nature, but once the substance overtakes the activity, or even worse, BECOMES the activity, that's where I've got to draw the line.I like to be around people who are totally comfortable in their own skin, independent, self-assured, but secure enough that they don't need to be arrogant. When it comes to men, they must not be hung up on some societal notion of what a woman should be, or what she should or shouldn't do.To hang with me a man would have to be into music, and going to concerts, stuff like that. He would also need to be okay with the time my projects may take away from "his" time. Unless, of course he'd want to help me with my endeavors. (better still).I'm not really 'looking' for someone at this point. I've discovered that doesn't really work for me. I'm just living my life, and if love finds me, it finds me.I've lived on my own for a good while now, and I suppose I'm set in my ways. I need a fair amount of space. (I'm willing to give that as well). This doesn't mean that I'm not a one-man woman. When I am involved with someone,I am indeed monogamous in my relationships, and expect the same from my partner. It's just that at this stage of my life, a friend and companion is more important to me than, perhaps a husband. What is MOST important to me in this stage in life is that the people I spend time with have their stuff together.I'm not about to baby someone. I raised my child, thank you, and I don't want to raise YOU!As potential partners go, I want a man, not a boy, so Peter Pans need not apply. Boyish charm is all well and good, but it loses it's appeal when it's coupled with irresponsibility. What I'd really like to do is broaden my circle of friends of both sexes. It would be great to have a like-minded, woman "chum" to pal around with. Another "Outrageous Older Woman" like me, LOL! Myspace Layouts + Myspace Graphics

Music:

My musical tastes are quite eclectic. Everything from Progressive Rock, to Goth/Industrial/Darkwave. I enjoy classical to a certain extent as well. Some of my favorite bands?Alan Parsons Project, Queensryche,Ted Nugent, Tool, Perfect Circle, Dead Can Dance, System Of A Down, Chevelle, Shinedown, Incubus, Breaking Benjamin, Coldplay, Old Cure, Duran Duran. Movies:

My all-time favorite? Probably "GONE WITH THE WIND"I also loved the Godfather Series, SCARFACE, ( the Al Pacino version), Goodfellas. Yes, I guess I'm hooked on gangster dramas.I loved Mel Gibson's Passion Of The Christ. ( I found it disturbing, yes, but hauntingly beautiful in it's courage, and honesty).I love Monty Python, and Mel Brooks, and Steve Martin, who think were and are comedic geniuses.I really like Johnny Depp, particulary as Edward Scissorhands, and in Sleepy Hollow.I love the quirky genius of Tim Burton.Anything with Jack Nicholson in it.I could go on all night, but I think this list gives you the general drift of what I enjoy in film.

Television:

Lately, I haven't been watching much TV, but when I do, It's shows like LAW & ORDER, E.R. The CSI SERIES.I also enjoy 60 Minutes, and Nightline.I also enjoy the documenturies and Historical shows on PBS.When I had cable I watched a lot of Discovery and History Channel.

Books:

The Entire Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles, as well as THE WITCHING HOUR, and Lasher. Chelsea Quinn YarbroAnything by Mitchener. ( just finished re-reading "Carribean", an amazing history lesson).Dan Brown, Danielle Steel, Sidney Sheldon.I enjoy a good crime novel, or historical fiction, or a good "women"s story like the YAYA Sisterhood.

Heroes:

JFK, Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy, Pope John Paul II, ( I didn't agree with a lot of what he said, but I greatly admired his honesty, compassion, and amazing courage and grace ). Nelson Mandela.
