William Douglas Banks, I - is the Organizer and the Senior Pastor of the Destiny Christian Church (DCC), located in the city of Philadelphia. Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, he received his License to Preach and was ordained at his home church, the prestigious Mount Olivet Baptist Church, where his mentor and father in the ministry, the Reverend Doctor Charles E. Booth, serves as pastor.
After graduating from the top academic high school in the Columbus public school system, Pastor Banks went on to matriculate the campus of the Ohio State University, where he was awarded a Bachelors Degree of Arts in the area of Sociology. He has matriculated at the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and upon conclusion of the work to complete the Master of Divinity Degree, he will pursue a doctorate in the area of Homiletics at another theological institution.
The Lord has truly blessed and anointed this man of God to minister to those who are hurting and in need of restoration and renewal. To this end, Pastor Banks is a highly sought after evangelist, preacher, and seminar leader around the country, crossing all denominational lines, and he has served churches in the New York City, Washington D.C, and Philadelphia metropolitan areas.
Pastor Banks' vision has revitalized the spiritual climate of the congregation and community of DCC, and his focus on ministry over maintenance has birthed this ministry of providence, following a Spirit-driven, Purpose-fulfilling model. It is his dream to see thousands in the Greater Philadelphia vicinity discover, develop, and display their God given destiny.
His anointing and leadership in the larger ecclesiastical community has been well respected by the Kingdom Community Apostolic Network (KCAN) which chose him to fill the role of Regional Overseer for the states of New York and Pennsylvania. This Apostolic Network of various pastors and churches over the world exists for the SOLE purpose for educating and training the saints for positions of leadership and servant hood within the body of Christ; endeavoring to restore DIGNITY and INTEGRITY to the pulpit. A product of the Hip Hop generation, his efforts to bring the gospel to today's youth and young adults has been recognized and showcased nationally on Black Entertainment Television (BET) production entitled "A Chosen Generation" presented by Rap City. A 7th generation descendant of Thomas Jefferson, he has also had the honor of being the featured guest of both the Oprah Winfrey show and BET Tonight with Tavis Smiley to speak about his family's heritage.
His partner in life and ministry is the love of his life, Lady Erica Marie and his greatest joy is being the father of his namesake William Douglas Banks, II affectionately called "DJ" and the newest addition to the Banks legacy: Joseph Edward Aubrey Banks.
Above all else he is saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost. Truly, he is one who has been Blood-Bought, God-Called, and Spirit-Filled.
