Scott Boyer is recovering from artery replacement surgery he had Feb. 7th, and his friends and associates will be presenting two benefit concerts in April in an effort to raise funds to cover his expenses.

Scott has always been a first responder when others have been in need, and his misfortune is giving his friends the opportunity to give something back.
The first show will be held at the Shoals Theater in Florence, AL, April 4th and will feature Bonnie Bramlett, Donnie Fritts, The Capricorn Rhythm Section, The Decoys, Zac Hacker, Microwave Dave and the Nukes, and the Amazing Rhythm Aces among others.
Scott's recovery has been better than expected, but he is not out of the woods yet. We will not know for a couple more months. He is probably facing future surgeries. The surgery he has already had ran into the thousands of dollars, Cooper said.

The second show will be held at the Alabama Theater in Birmingham, April 18th and will include Gregg Allman, Bonnie Bramlett, Donnie Fritts, Paul Thorn, Zac Hacker, The Capricorn Rhythm Section, and the Decoys.
Providing members of the stage band will be an assortement of studio musicians from Muscle Shoals, Birmingham and Nashville.
SHOALS & BIRMINGHAM BENEFIT CONCERTS SET FOR FORMER CAPRICORN ARTIST SCOTT BOYER
FLORENCE, Ala. - Dates have been set in April for two benefit concerts for former Capricorn Records artist Scott Boyer who has had surgery for an arterial disease.
The first concert will be Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at 7 p.m. at the Shoals Theater in downtown Florence, said concert promoter Dick Cooper.
Former Capricorn artist Bonnie Bramlett, The Amazing Rhythm Aces, Dan Penn & Spooner Oldham, former Kris Kristofferson keyboardist Donnie Fritts, The Capricorn Rhythm Section, The Decoys, Microwave Dave and the Nukes, Nashville Stars winner Angela Hacker and Nashville Stars runner-up Zac Hacker are among the scheduled performers.
The stage band will include former Steppenwolf guitarist Larry Byrom, Charlie Daniels Band bassist Charlie Haywood, former Bama Band member Billy Earhart, Nashville drummer Bryan Owings, original Fame Gang drummer Jerry Carrigan, guitarist Rick Kurtz, the Bama Brass and others.
We have a couple surprises in the works for both shows, Cooper said.
The Shoals Theater is on the corner of Seminary and Mobile Streets in Florence.

Gregg Allman, Bonnie Bramblett, The Amazing Rhythm Aces, Donnie Fritts, Paul Thorn, The Capricorn Rhythm Section, The Decoys, Zac Hacker and Topper Price will perform there. The stage band will include Byrom, Owings, Carrigan, former Muscle Shoals guitarist Wayne Perkins, the Bama Brass and others.
Boyer, who has lived in the Shoals Area for several years and formerly in Fairhope, was a member of Cowboy, an act signed with Capricorn Records in Macon, Georgia, in the 1970s. More recently, the former Florida State University student has been the lead guitarist and vocalist for The Decoys and the Capricorn Rhythm Section.
Tickets for the Shoals show will be $25 each. They may be purchased at Pegasus Records in Florence and the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in Tuscumbia.
Tickets for the Birmingham show ($40 and $50) are being sold online through Ticketmaster. com and at all Ticketmaster outlets.
