About Me

Touted as an “up-and-coming rock band” (Elana Jefferson – The Denver Post) and the “best band in Denver to take a date to see” (Play:Coed.com), Lazyface combines soulful lyrics and catchy melodies with complex arrangements and upbeat tempos to form a unique brand of pop-rock that has taken the Denver scene by storm.
So what makes Lazyface special? Consider first the backbone of any great band -- an experienced rhythm section. Highlighted by Mike Dybing’s unique ability to rap while drumming, and supplemented by the robust sounds of David Sloan's five string bass guitar, the Lazyface drum/bass combination provides the bedrock for the dynamic beats that drive each song. A full, hooky keyboard is added by Aaron Rocha, and adds strength and character to the music. Andy "Skelator" Anderson's addition of a strong, edgy lead guitar gives the band a new dynamic. And lastly, lead vocalist Sam DeWitt uses thoughtful lyrics that resonate on personal level with the audience and leave them humming his tunes for days.
Lazyface has enjoyed a great deal of success in its nearly five years of existence. With over 150 shows under their belt, consistent radio-play on 93.3 KTCL-FM, and a growing fan base, Lazyface looks to extend its success and make a name for itself in Denver... and beyond.
------PRESS:-------
Denver's best-kept secret.
- Christian Blochinger, Colorado Music Buzz Magazine
Featuring strong songwriting, DeWitt's soulful vocals, Kosares' jagged guitar lines and Rocha's compelling piano work, Lazyface’s recent release, Smile, comprises a pleasing handful of songs that recall the music of Dave Matthews, Ben Folds and the best of post alternative contemporary rock. Tracks including “My Line,” “Silent (Bizarro),” and “Beautiful” showcase the band's rising talent. The group has drawn comparisons to Denver-born act the Fray and hopes to ride the same wave as the aforementioned rockers on its ongoing quest for rock super-stardom.
- Nick Hutchinson, Associated Content
Tunes such as "Anyways" and "My Line" hold their own thanks to the gruff vocalizing of Sam DeWitt and lush keyboarding by Aaron Rocha.
- Michael Roberts, Westword
It is hard to ride on the tail of such a big group as The Fray, but Lazyface is holding their own. Commonly played on 93.3 (the radio station that launched The Fray's career) you can tell Lazyface is well on their way of being known outside our square state. They play alt-rock similar to Dave Matthews and Ben Folds. If they stick with it, we can see them becoming a big deal. Hopefully they'll remember their Coloradan roots when they hit it big time.
