About Me

Some Random Band
a.k.a. SRB
Paul Hummel - Lead and Backing Vocals, Rhythm Guitar, occasional Lead Guitar, Keys
Brandon Fuelling - Lead and Rhythm Guitars, Ebow, Backing Vocals, occasional Lead Vocal
Mitch Nelson - Drums, Backing Vocals and general good times
Paul Klinger - Bass Guitar and a brand new energy!
It’s difficult to classify Some Random Band. They have been called Modern Rock, Alternative Rock, Pop Punk, Classic Rock or even Adult Contemporary. The reality is that Some Random Band just can’t be contained by one conventional genre. Instead the band is working to blend a Modern Rock style with Classic Rock elements.
For SRB, it’s all about having a unique sound, one marked by a young, current and modern style but also includes more “classic” influences like bridges, solos and layered arrangements. Bob Dylan, Third Eye Blind, Boston, Counting Crows, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, the Goo Goo Dolls and Matchbox 20 are just a few of the artists SRB credits with influencing their style and sound.
The band was formed initially in 2004 by Paul Hummel (lead vocals, guitar) and Brandon Fuelling (lead guitar, bg vocals) in order to participate in Standley Lake High School’s battle of the bands. When asked the name of their band, the guys stared at each other blankly until Paul finally said, “we’re just some random band.” Thusly, Some Random Band was born.
SRB went through various personnel adjustments before Brandon’s older brother finally introduced them to drummer Mitch Nelson. Shortly thereafter, Brandon reunited with old friend and bassist Zach Flower. Zach completed the band’s lineup and led to the completion of their debut album "More or Less" in mid 2007. A very recent line-up change has brought a new wildly energetic bass player, Paul Klinger (formerly of Rightfully Accused) to the band, and they are excited to experiment with these new seemingly endless possibilties.
Today the band continues to mature and hone their musical skills. SRB writes all of their own songs and each member has contributed to the body of work that is More or Less, their debut CD (2007, Some Random Band). and continues to create a unique style of music that combines layers of guitar with layers of vocals.
Some Random Band is fresh, modern rock with “classic rock sensibilities,” beautiful melodies, intricate songwriting and arrangement, soulful, heartfelt lyrics about life, love and the pursuit of happiness and good, old fashioned guitar shredding. SRB is a fresh, young band with a musical maturity beyond their years, bringing the “classic” back to rock.” This band and this album exemplifies everything that is good and pure about rock and roll.
Some Random Band is currently playing the Denver club circuit and prepare for regional tours. Their music has also been featured on Denver’s Channel 93.3’s Local’s Only Sunday night radio show and has been played in regular rotation on Oklahoma’s KQIB 102.9.
