About Me

I am a Spoken Word Artist / Lyricist / Composer / Producer / Mixer who specializes in making your music unique. While I will travel to you, my main lab for sonic experimentation and record making is based just outside Los Angeles, in Altadena, CA.

The Cabinet of Curiosities is my home-based, two room sanctuary with hand picked analog and digital gear. It allows me to capture the sounds you crave, whether they breathe with the warmth of tube saturation, scream with circuit-bent, bit-reduced rage, or live somewhere in an audio space no one has named yet. Historically, the cabinet of curiosities is derived from the Renaissance era phenomenon that “emphasized the exceptional, the rare, and the marvelous”. That’s what I do—highlight what makes you as an artist or band extraordinary.

Specializing with Singer / Songwriters, Hip Hop, Rock, Pop, and R&B artists, I adapt to the needs of your songs. My tools include acoustic, electric and digital instruments that run through a host of hardware preamps, eq’s, compressors, and effects. The music is captured with dynamic, condenser, omni and ribbon mics as well as by DI. Once the tracks plunge into my DAW, they are subjected to further enhancement or degradation by digital editing and automation, in addition to my soft-synth and plug-in manipulations.

For those that require name drops, the hardware and software roster boasts DigiDesign, Propellerheads, Universal Audio, Great River Electronics, Peluso, Audio Technica, dbx, DUY, Fender, SHURE, Massey, JOEMEEK, Waves, FMR Audio and more. Alongside the name brands are a bunch of die-hard saviors of sound that handle like champs. Remember, this is as much art as science, and I perfect both to assure your artistic satisfaction.

Currently, I have Dizzy representing Hip Hop and laying down verses in my studio for his upcoming debut "Rubber Bands, Shoe Strings and Milk Cartons". I am producing, supplying some of the beats, engineering and mixing. Stylistically, Dizzy cuts through tracks with a hyperkinetic flow painting powerful portraits of life in the South of Cali while reaching for more than bling.

On the rock front, things are being held down with me engineering and co-producing with international recording artist Molly Zenobia on her third disc "Will Work For Love". While we wait for some scheduling blips to be ironed out with the orchestra that we'll be using on some of the tracks, I'll be recording two special exclusive concerts she's giving in Westlake Village. Check back for details on both this live CD and her next studio album which will further reinforce Molly's reputation for intoxicating you with her voice, enchanting you with her piano skills and leaving you deliriously moved by her masterful songwriting.

I'm finishing up my poetry chapbook Pack Animals and making some moves around town. Pack Animals will expose how we connect to one another even when feeling disconnected from ourselves and highlight how we matter to each other. Get on my ReverbNation mailing list to stay posted on upcoming events such as my upcoming TV appearance, gigs and more.

The live CD from Jim Anderson, "Live", which I recorded, mixed and mastered is now available at http://www.jim-anderson-music.com. Dude has some serious songwriting skills so check him out.

Those local to the LA Hip Hop scene need to cop BGreene's mixtape "BGreene of Cali-Kidz presents I'll Make U Famous Vol. 1". He rocks over beats like a West Coast Biggie without biting the B.I.G.'s signature style. I remastered five tracks on this disc that needed some extra attention and am currently in the lab concocting new beats for his debut. Stay tuned!
