About Me

We are a group of vegetarians, vegans, activists, artists, and their friends who regularly get together and share vegetarian food, wine, good conversation and watch provocative documentaries and films. Our aim is to bring good people together and thereby combat our increasingly impersonal, superficial, disconnected and unquestioning society. Further, we like to share ideas and connect to other people, in a setting that is laid back, while hoping people who are not vegetarians will be exposed to rich and delicious food, and perhaps begin to see how vegetarianism benefits us all. Humans, animals, environment, and how being vegetarian is a small part of increasing love, connection, health, compassion, truth and justice in our world.

My Interests

Film, reading good books, environmental issues, evolving from capitalism, fighting injustice, compassion, justice, books through bars, Wooden Show books, tutoring inner city kids, basketball programs for kids, veg outreach, conversation, wine, delicious food, networking, making meaningful connections, laughing.

I'd like to meet:

Friendly, ethically conscious, interesting people in New York who want to have a good time and be part of a group of progressive, fully alive people who want to have a positive impact on our society. Become our myspace friend and we will let you know about upcoming events :)

Music:

Music that uplifts, that makes you feel alive, that makes you want to dance, Miriam Makeba, Harry Belafonte, Chico Cesar, Tito Puente, Depeche Mode, Skinny Puppy, etc...

Movies:

Witness, Peaceful Kingdom, Ace Ventura, Fast Food Nation, Supersize Me, JFK, Dirty Dancing, Princess Bride, City of God, Koyaanisqatsi, Fahrenheit 9/11...

Television:

TV is fine in moderation but in general we try to live an active life and to be an active participant in life. We would rather make mad passionate love then watch porn, rather sweat and compete making new friends on the hardcourts than watch a basketball game, rather live our own lives than watch "The Real World," or soap operas. But we really like the Family Guy, The Colbert Report, CSI.

Books:

Well, I personally like Emma Goldman's Living My Life. Ecce Homo by Friedrich Nietzsche, The Autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi. The Tao te Ching as translated by Stephen Mitchell. Che, A Revolutionary Life, by Jon Lee Anderson. Static by Amy Goodman. Comedies among other genres.

Heroes:

Everyday people who make small sacrifices on a daily basis. People who volunteer, who are open, who treat everyone they meet as a brother or sister.
