About Me

BUY THE NEW ALBUM 'BLACK SWAN'

BUY THE MIRROR WORLD EP

Local duo Object wears its mid-90’s influences on its sleeve, offering crunchy yet soulful alt rock

-TimeOut NY

Object mixes aggressive guitar riffs and powerful, beautifully executed vocal melodies with a chick who plays drums like an octopus (yes that’s a good thing)

-VERBICIDE

[Object] make more noise than two musicians should ever be expected to make. Channeling the sounds of the 90’s, the band pile on the grunge-induced rock with deeply personal first person lyrics carried by the strong vocals of singer/guitarist Eric.

-THE DELI

[Object’s] music warrants way more attention than it's been receiving. They are a band that's been fighting the good fight in this scene for years, never failing to rip and rage on stage. They've got a new album chomping at the bit, so here's to hoping that people start recognizing.”

I was instantly blown away by this release from Object. "The Mirror World" has the sound of my teen years. Surely grabbing influence from the "grunge" scene of the early 90s and doing it just right enough to keep their originality intact and create a sound they can call their own. For having only two instruments (Eric sings and strums, Maria drums) the music sounds bigger than it is. The vocals are pushed to the edge as chaos slowly ensues in the background and it all pays off with one grand finale at the end of each track making for a great listen.

-INDEPENDENTSONLY.COM

NYC tandem Object may get the obvious comparisons to White Stripes, but aside from the one guy singing and strumming and one girl bashing the kit, this dynamic duo's five-track disc emits a lot more than the obligatory. Demonstrating Jeff Buckley's soul, Kurt Cobain's scream, and Billy Corgan's twisted melodies, tracks like "Fooled" and "Walk Away" have got the '90s alt-rock rage tightly packaged and compressed into memorable nuggets that pop into your head at the most random times. The sleigh-bell effect and fancy fretwork that open up "Open Sores" help this track ring out the loudest. Object has done the most with the least on THE MIRROR WORLD, making a compelling release along the way that rockingly resonates with the ghosts of rock radio's not-so-distant past. www.objectband.com -Mike SOS

-SKRATCH

Objects energy, especially live, is a most consuming event

-IMPOSE

Object is a band with potential in a unique way: should there ever be a band to remake Nirvanas Bleach album and bring on a grunge revival, Object would be the one- they have that retro, grunge rock sound down pat. Thankfully, theyve gone above and beyond the traditional grunge sound, placing themselves in a unique niche of the genre.

-INDEPENDENT CLAUSES

Duos have never been as noisy as in this millennium. Before then, the word "duo" used to make you think of Simon and Garfunkel or the Everly Brothers...I guess everything started with The White Stripes. Afterall, when you have a drumkit and a super distorted electric guitar with the amp's volume set at 11, what else do you need to make some good old noise? This Object is a very noisy one and drummer Maria perhaps might be one of the wildest in NYC right now.

-THE DELI MAGAZINE

Eric and I are exactly a duo. For a two-piece, we are loud. If I had to catagorize the sound, I wouldn't. However, it is enough to say that we are AGRESSIVE and a part of some nascent force in Brooklyn, NY.
Our minds combined on a whim. Unable to resist his flirtateous charm, I was helpless to Eric's invite to 'jam.' We met in a somewhat decrepit studio and in that room, all defaced with cheap carpet and duct tape, we made some songs. Eventually documenting these initial sessions on Dat tapes, piles of session files and various poems, we found ourselves with a name, a recording full of phase problems and a mutual facination with our emerging 'rock band.'
Not knowing exactly what to do with this band, we took it to a rooftop in Brooklyn where we played our very first show to a bunch of very strange 'artists' and happily competed with hotdogs and sculptures for the attention of the patrons. We banged out five barely complete songs and left the stage with a broken floor tom and were greeted by an immediate positive response.
Since then, we have been through several bass players and have now returned to the way that we started it...as a two-piece. We have had the pleasure of playing with many excellent bands in NYC -- JUCIFER, MADE OUT OF BABIES, VAZ, NEVAH (MEMBERS OF SWANS & UNSANE), BATTLE FOR WYOMING, THE JEALOUS GIRLFRIENDS, GOES CUBE, MUGGABEARS, TELENOVELLA STAR, WHO BY FIRE, CHANGE THE STATION, LOCKSLEY, THE DEATH OF FASHION, MIGHTY FINE, THE GIRAFFES, THE BEAUTY SUPPLY, HOMINID, BRAVADO, SPEEDX3, KRYLLS, IN EXTREMIS, I LOVE YOU, DEATH.POOL, THIS BLUE HOLIDAY, DOPO YUME, and many more--
We just finished recording our first full-length album, Black Swan. It's out 2/7/08.
