SHTV Episode 1: "They Say Alot... Don't They?"
Satellite Hero
This is a brick wall of rock and roll. Satellite Hero puts the hard in hard rock, hitting the listener with musical muscle and aural force. But its heavyhitting sound is executed with finesse, style and grace. Satellite Hero plays songs that are potent and high energy and strike with a razor edge, hitting the bull's eye with music that is brawn driven by brain. Heavy and smart, Satellite Hero is writing the next chapter in hard rock.
Hard Emotion
Real men aren't afraid of their emotions. Neither is real music. Musicians like those of Satellite Hero know that music – even if it's heavy music – can only have impact if it's emotionally attuned. It's got to evoke a gut feeling in the listener or the band might as well wrap it up and go home. Well, Satellite Hero won't be going home any time soon; this act knows the importance of emotional resonance embodied in powerful musical expression. According to Lance T. Ayers of Satellite Hero, music is three-dimensional emotion. “Every emotion that I have ever felt in my life could be related in some way, shape or form in a song or composition.”
Survival Kit
Such universality is a key factor in the life of music and demonstrates its vitality and its importance in the day-to-day life of everybody. For some, music is a favored hobby. For others, it is the very core of life. “I need music to survive,” says Ayers, “almost like it's symbiotic.” This intimacy is on display in the music of Satellite Hero, which holds up for all to see a profound artistic understanding of music, songwriting and the performance of such songwriting.
Respect
The only way to develop such artistic intimacy with music and, therefore, make superb music, is to respect the music and to respect one's self. Failure to fully honor one's own personal vision can cripple musical ambition. So can the refusal of a musician to fully appreciate the power being wielded every time a song is written or played. “Respect the art and power of music,” says Ayers. “Whatever you do in music, do it from the heart ... Stay true to your musical self; thus your longevity and potential are boundless.”
Singularity
And the pinnacle of Satellite Hero's artistic intent is transcendence via connection. Music enables an artist to understand self and enables that artist to convey such understanding to the listener. A convergence of mind and spirit can occur in such rare instances of music finding coming to full fruition (such as in the works of Satellite Hero). “What inspires me is that moment in time where the artist, the music and the listener become a singularity,” declares Ayers.
The Artist at Work
Ayers has opened for Michelle Branch, Nonpoint, Marty Casey and the Lovehammers, Powerman 5000, Blessed Union of Souls, Liquid Soul and the Jeff Coffin Mutet. He has spread his music all across the Midwest and played numerous sold-out gigs at top venues. Satellite Hero is hard at it, gigging in a nationwide tour to promote the band's forthcoming album, “The Dither Age.” Satellite Hero is currently working with A&R Select, the leading indie A&R firm in Hollywood, CA.
“Satellite Hero broadcasts its musical power across the country and is a champion of truly great rock-and-roll. Perfect name, then, huh?” - A&R Select
