About Me

Back Eighty Music Production and Management provides the finest creative and original music for recording artists, movies, television, advertising, video, and animation- from fully orchestrated to a few jazz or rock brass lines or pop string sweetening. Pop, jazz, classical, country, bluegrass, children's music, electronic, rock, gospel, literally all styles represented. Our company is unique in that we promote and manage arranger/orchestrators and provide completely finished and recorded music for any project you envision.
Our composers have written acclaimed ballet scores, symphonic orchestrations, music for international tours, orchestrations for television and for national advertising, movie soundtracks, and instrumental and vocal arrangements for hit recordings for many artists. Our composers have been awarded advertising's CLIO award, gospel's DOVE award, and in 2006, arranger Don Hart, currently under Back Eighty Music representation, received a GRAMMY nomination for best instrumental arrangement accompanying a vocal. This arrangement appears on "Kid Pan Alley Nashville", a Parent's Choice Gold Star award winner. This CD is available through Amazon.com. Be sure to visit Don's official page at www.myspace.com/donhartmusic to hear even more of his music . You can contact him there, or just send a message here.
Don's specialty includes every style of music, and every size instrumental grouping, from solo vocal to full symphonic orchestra, from classical to country to kid's music to folk to rock. He arranges everything from small custom sessions to major international broadcasts, and has provided fully finished music production out of Nashville, New York, LA, Miami, London, and elsewhere. We handle musician booking, studios, union contracts, and whatever is needed, from your idea to finished masterpiece. We are happy to provide you with demos, brochures, references and budget estimates if you'd like.
String arranging, electronic music, movie scoring, and commercial music production are expertly handled by Don, or by Patrick Hart and Devin Smith through Honor Roll Music and Atomisk Records. These musicians, who graduated from one of the country's highest rated music schools, the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, started these companies several years ago, and have already done commercial work for Burger King, Visa, Volkswagen, and many other national companies. This page currently features the work of Don Hart. Don is a composer, arranger, and orchestrator living in Nashville, Tennessee. Among the honors Don has received as an arranger are his 2006 Grammy nomination, arranging for a Grammy winning album, advertising’s Clio and Gospel Music’s Dove awards.

Symphony orchestras and chamber groups, including ensembles from Nashville, Philadelphia, and Atlanta, have played his music. Don was commissioned by the Nashville Ballet to write the score for a new production of The Velveteen Rabbit, which premiered in April 2006. In addition to numerous arranging assignments for the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, he has been commissioned by them for several works, including “Concertino for Two Mandolins, Guitar and Strings”, the cantata, “With Heart and Hands and Voices” and “Tarantella and Reverie” in which he teamed with co-composer/guitarist John Jorgenson.

The NCO has commissioned Don and former Phish lead singer, Trey Anastasio for a guitar and orchestra work that will be premiered in 2008. His compositions for broadcast have been heard nationally on A&E, CNN, TBS and the History Channel.

Our experienced composer/arrangers want to do whatever they can to give young writers and composers a hand up in the industry, and encourage talented young musicians to keep the faith, keep working, and keep learning. Contact us for arranging, composing, and music production, and we can supply music for any project you envision, no matter how big or how small. Our background music is award-winning, and our artist work is GRAMMY-nominated. We can easily provide you with a demo, brochure, and resumes of our arranger/composers, so send an email with your contact information.

A few words from Don's colleagues:

Don Hart's compositions and arrangements have an amazing ability to take the audience and the musicians to new and unexpected places. It's rare to find someone equally at ease in so many different styles. Don Hart's musical language knows no boundaries and the end result always goes straight to the heart. ~Paul Gambill~ Conductor, Nashville Chamber Orch.

Don seems to be able to instinctively enhance and expand on my themes and ideas while infusing a distinct style of his own. Working with Don has been one of my most fruitful and stress-free musical collaborations, and I look forward to creating more music together in the future. ~John Jorgenson~ Artist, Composer

Don's arrangements are beautifully profound and creative. He is a truly gifted arranger and composer. ~Gabe Dixon~ Artist, Songwriter

Having worked with Don Hart for several years as well as hearing his own works, he is at the top of his game, and yet, getting better all the time. In working on songs he goes right to the emotional core of the song; and, every musical decision he makes is based on serving the song: lyric, composition and, especially, intent. He begins there and weaves his rich experience and imaginings to lift whatever he works on. Besides, he is a gentle man to be around from brainstorm beginnings to after show congratulations. Musically, I believe Don could do anything. ~Darrell Scott~ Artist, Songwriter

I recently had the pleasure of working with Don Hart and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra. Don wrote some beautiful arrangements and helped to set up a musical atmosphere where I could really play. He knew just what to do. ~Bill Frisell~ Artist

For the past 22 years I have had the distinct pleasure of recording and performing the orchestrations of Don Hart. The quality of his work is extraordinary. Mr Hart has a complete understanding of the complexities of the orchestra as well as the recording process. What is most remarkable are the consistent compliments that always occur after the first reading of one of Dons orchestrations. His care for each part, making certain that the inner lines are melodic and supportive, showing great attention to range and style, make his work always appealing to the most experienced musician. From string quartet to to full orchestra and choir, Don Hart is the finest. ~David Davidson~ Artist, Concertmaster, Producer
