About Me

Don't Let Me Down (live cover)
Jason Wells dove into music at a very young age. He started banging on the piano at age two, and gradually rose to become an extremely mediocre player by the time he was 14 years old. During his high school years, dedication was redirected to a different instrument: the guitar. It was more forgiving, more portable and brown (all good qualities).
As he became more comfortable with his voice and his musical abilities improved, Jason began showing up in public with his instrument, eager to entertain. He drove a dusty, white 1977 Volkswagen Rabbit, and wired the hatchback flaps so that home stereo speakers from the 60s (discovered in his parent's basement) could be placed on the ground and plugged directly into his car. A very primitive amp and cheap microphone was added to the mix to create an ambience that couldn't be matched. And if it could have been, nobody really wanted to.
It was obvious listening to his first song, which was written when he was 16 years old, that he spent a great deal of time listening to The Doors. In fact, most nights, if you looked hard enough, you could find him cruising backroads, sporting his Lennon-esque sunglasses with his head wired to his headphones, pumping Jim Morrison directly into his brain.
With years of experience and an overwhelming amount of original material (almost thirty songs [yes, we're talkin' THIRTY]), you'll be sure to find Jason's sound both interesting and appealing. His songs have been compared to The Doors, Nirvana and Radiohead; along with The Beatles, these bands have all been an influence.
A fan of Wells has dubbed his sound an "alternative version of The Doors." That's about as good of a description as any.
Jason usually performs acoustically, choosing either small, intimate venues, or busy walkways on the streets of downtown areas. Most nights, if you look hard enough, you'll find him, sporting his Lennon-esque sunglasses, wailing on his guitar and singing at the top of his lungs.
"When you get a chance, listen to some stuff. It makes me feel good about myself."

I Like Grease

I woke up this morning before 6am. Yes, it was an accident. There are not many things more lousy than getting out of bed before you absolutely have to. But after moving past the annoyance of waking up...

Ozzy? Is That You?

You've had this happen to you before: someone you know and trust reaches his hand toward you, holding something that seemingly came from nowhere. It's obvious the person wants you to take the object,...

Thank You, Man of Business

So I'm in the middle of a song. I can't remember which song in particular I was performing, but it was soon after the start of my second set. Even this late into the show, I didn't consider myself com...

Finishing What I

About an hour ago, I decided to choose three excerpts from thoughts in my head. I had only two requirements - the thoughts chosen would have to feel unique in some way, and they couldn't be forced. Wh...

Nice Old Man?

It's been along time since I've hit a pedestrian with my car. Years, in fact. But Mean Old Man nearly shattered my record this morning. I was cruising along in the Rabbit, enjoying this awesome weath...

Under the Table and Dreaming?

"Why do I always do this?" I asked myself, as two sets of knee caps stared me in the eyes. I'd never been to a baby shower before. In fact, I thought all showers were for girls and girls only. But I w...

Sleeping Is Easy

It's after 1am, and I'm not asleep yet. I would really enjoy being asleep right now, but it's not really working out.   Under normal circumstances, I have no problem falling asleep. In fact, fall...
