About Me

Hi. My name is Tony, part time musician, part time lounge lizard and errr....not much else. I work in the film industry in London and play guitar and sing with a band called Long Tall Shorty which I formed at school 29 years ago. I don't know why I carry on doing it but over the years I have met some fabulous people some of who have urged me to put something on Myspace. Therefore I have. I also used to play bass guitar with the Angelic Upstarts back in the early '80's when I was known as Tony Feedback? I would tell you why I got called that but it's rather a long story!UPDATE!! I'm Tony Feedback again, haha. I'm now a fully paid up member of Gary Bushell's band, The Gonads, and we are out and about gigging mainly in London. Check out the Gonads myspace profile or their website www.the-gonads.co.uk for further info on gigs and so-on. If you do come to any gigs though, watch out for a shady character who goes by the name of Dale "The Beast" Beeson and if he offers you a drink, please refuse it as it's probably coming out of our gig money.I have made millions of records over the years which are listed below.Long Tall Shorty. 1979. By Your Love/1970's Boy......Warner Bros 45 1980. If I Was You/That's What I Want...DRC Flexi 1981. Win or Lose/Ain't Done Wrong....Ramkup 45 1984. On the Streets Again EP....Diamond 45 1986. Live at the Savoy..........LP, cant remember label. 2000. 1970's Boys..........Captain Mod LP 2003. A Bird in the Hand......Acid Jazz LP 2003. Completely Perfect......Detour LP 2006. Women and Trouble......Biff Bang Pow LP 2006. No Good Woman EP.......Biff Bang Pow 45Angelic Upstarts 1982. Never Say Die..........EMI 45 1982. Still From the Heart...EMI LP 1983. Woman in Disguise......Cherry Red 45 1983. Reason Why.............Cherry Red LP 1983. Solidarity.............Cherry Red 45 1984. Not Just a Name........Cherry Red 45Joe Public 1985. Anti CND/Champagne Charlie.....Capital 45 1985. Wild Thing EP..................Capital 45Have also had tracks used on various compilations LP's both here and abroad and apparently a couple of the early LTS 45's have been re-pressed by someone in Sweden?I've played virtually every club and theatre in London and loads of places across the world. Some of my favourites are; The Marquee in Wardour Street, The Rainbow which is now a church?, The Paradiso, Amsterdam, The Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles and the Peppermint Lounge in New York which was a laugh as both Iggy Pop and Joe Strummer came to see us there! Some highlights during gigs have been riots at the 1981 Reading Festival when we got stoned, (literally), off the stage, a massive riot in Holland which was started by nazi skins and me nearly getting hit on the head with a golf club, the first LTS headline at the Marquee in Jan 1980 where 2 people got stabbed, and every one of the Joe Public gigs which used to end in drunkeness and debauchery. I also saw Mensi headbutt some bloke in the face once at a gig in Canada which also started a riot! For such a wimp, I seem to have been involved in lots of gig trouble in my time.I once knew a bloke who won £10,000,000 quid on the lottery and it ruined his life so my philosophy nowadays is: STOP DREAMING AND START DOING!

My Interests

Meeting people, playing the guitar and studying French. Oh yeah, just remembered, my main passion in life seems to be buying stuff on E-bay. God knows why but having an addictive personality I can't stop myself. My guitar collection now includes a 1969 Fender Stratocaster in Olympic White, a 1969 Gold Top Les Paul Deluxe, a 1970 Dan Armstrong Plexi-glass which is currently my favourite, and many others including Les Pauls, Firebirds, SG's and another White Strat which I generally use for chucking round at Shorty gigs. I use 2 amplifiers, a Peavey Classic and a Fender Blues Deluxe.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone from the past who I haven't seen or spoken to for ages, especially the friends I made while living/touring in the USA in the '80's.Bob Dylan and Phil Spector.I'd love to meet anyone who is on the organising committee's of awards ceremonies like the Brits, Oscars, Bafta's etc, so that I could smash their smug heads into a pulp and then feed their remains to the sharks in Montego Bay. Awards Ceremonies are a complete waste of time, the people who go on them to collect awards are wankers, self satisfied, poncified, idiots who have usually done nothing more than make a good film or record and then spend an hour luvvying it up with some crap speech thanking all the other twats who they are involved with.I like shepherds though!

Music:

Anything with a bit of urgency about it. Fave bands are probably the Clash, Ramones, Sham 69 and Lynyrd Skynyrd. I also love the old Phil Spector records. However, being an old mod, I love early 60's bands like the Yardbirds, Pretty Things and old blues bands and singers like Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson and Lightnin' Hopkins.

Movies:

Early 60's kitchen sink dramas of which my all time favourite is Saturday Night, Sunday Morning.

Television:

None.......a complete waste of time!

Books:

Anything about the Profumo Scandal. If I haven't got the biggest collection of stuff relating to this anywhere in the world, I'd be amazed. At least it would show there are sadder people in the world than me!! Also, english books translated into french as I read french everyday to improve my vocabulary in preparation for moving there in the next few years.

Heroes:

Gary the Mod!!! Phil Spector. Jimmy Pursey

My Blog

Gigs, gigs and more gigs.

I've got a few shows coming up. St George's Day....The Gonads at the Circus Tavern, Purfleet May 3rd...The Gonads @ the Dublin Castle, Camden May 10th, The Gonads supporting Sham 69 at the Bridgehouse...
