My Interests

.. .. .. ..
Massively into 2tone when I was at school - hung around with the local skins for a while and spent most of my time loitering outside youth clubs in loafers and braces trying to look mean. Had the skinhead haircut (and my mum cried when she saw it!). Then began to look further into ska and black music and discovered a real love for Soul, Northern and 50s and 60s R&B. Got really into the mod look and spent my teenage years in knee length skirts and hush puppies while poor mum spent most of that time trying to get me to dress more 'up to date' lol. Met my husband in 1984 when he offered to show me his mates scooter (ooer). Occasionally went to the Outrigger and The Weir Inn in early 1984 before leaving the scene to have James - yes I was a teenage mum!! Returned in 1986 and attended my first rally in Morcambe. I then got my first scooter - a green PX125 - and joined the Birmingham E-Types, even becoming secretary for a few years. Still went to the Outrigger (although it was the Ship Ashore by then) and Synatras. Did loads of rallies during the 80s and the 90s. Did a bit of marshalling for the Oxford Roadrunner weekends and generally had a laugh. I then joined the Birmingham Atlas for a few years before a fall out between members. Continued to attend do's and events before helping Penny to form Brummagem J6 - I have to say that we had the best laugh EVER while in that club - I think it's still going now - maybe I should visit on club night.. Put on the very successful mod events Voodoo Working I and II with good mates John and Claire Lister and special mates Paul and Karen Hooper-Keeley. I've owned quite a few vespas over the years and even owned a Lambretta (even if it was a Cento). I currently ride a V90 with a 135 electronic kit - and yes it flies. I still visit the tailor when funds allow and am still passionate about the mod girl look - not the white go-go boots/60s mini dress/plastic jewellery ensemble - fine if you're into Austin Powers though ;-) Music wise I'm a bit narrow minded I'm afraid - 60s northern, motown (but not the wedding shite), soul, funk, R&B and Jazz. Loved The Lost 45's, Yeh Yeh and The Bresslaws - some Weller stuff. Like the obvious stuff - Small Faces, The Action, The Sonics etc and my current favourite Sharon Jones - the best gig I've EVER been to - and I've been to a lot! Below is the video I took at the recent Sharon Jones gig - a legend

I'd like to meet:

Anyone with a mod influence and who doesn't take life too seriously - oh and I actually know everyone in my top friends!!
