Thea Crudi

She's the future of italian vocal jazz.

About Me

Thea Crudi was born the 19th of May 1988 in Cattolica (Rn). Her mother is Finnish and her father is Italian, so Thea speaks english, italian and suomi (and also german and french). At the age of 14, she begins to study Modern Singing with the teacher Gessica Lusetti. At 16 she discovers jazz and one year later she begins to study in Modena, with the jazz singer Sandra Cartolari; she studies also piano with the Maestro Michele Donati. In Florence, she had the opportunity to attend Sheila Jordan’s workshop finding excellent confirmation.

At 17 years old she began to perform in clubs and theatres, like “Teatro della Regina” of Cattolica, in “Teatro del Mare” of Riccione. In June 2006, just turned eighteen, she continued to study jazz in Berlin; she performed in the main clubs of the city (B-Flat, A-Trane, BeBop), joining the jazz musicians' circle.
The 19th of January 2007, she performed as special guest during the concert “Homage to Gerswin” of Fabrizio Bosso and Renato Sellani. The 13th of April 2007 she had the opportunity to open the concert of Dave Burrell and Lena Conquest at Naima Club in Forlì, accompained by the Maestro Marco Di Meo. Besides, the 22th of July 2007, she opened the concert of the great Sarah Jane Morris during the Festival "Women in Blues" of Bertinoro, always accompained by the Maestro Marco Di Meo, and introduced by Michele Minisci - patron of the event - as "the future of italian vocal jazz".
Thea Crudi sings mainly standards, exploring also repertoires from the “Chansonne Française” and from the classics of Italian, Spanish and Portuguese music . In 2006 she has cut a record with the maestro Marco Di Meo. In this CD it is perceptible the versatility and the great talent of this young artist.
She has worked with: Titan Jazz Band of San Marino, Jean Gambini, Dana Gooley, Robin Draganic, Alessandro Roselli, Onorino Tiburzi, Claude Maarek, Umberto Gnassi, Marco Di Meo, Roberto Gazzani, Andrea Morandi, Dana Gooley, Paolo Marzocchi, Fabrizio Bosso, Renato Sellani, Ettore Togni, Francesco Mancini.
