About Me

The Center for Adoptees was formed to give adoptees and birthfamilies a place to go for support. We understand, like us, many adoptees are happy, well-adjusted adults. Most of the time we know who we are and where we are going in life. Then we have that one moment, you know the one. It can happen anytime, anywhere. You wonder where they are, who they are, why did she give you up? Every adoptee has had or will have this moment at some time in their life. If you feel alone and confused, maybe even disloyal to your adopted parents, you are not alone. We are here for you 24/7. Pop into our chat room anytime, give us a call or email us. We will explain who we are and what we do and help in any way we can. We also have some great programs. Check them out. If you are searching we can help you with that too.
I am now and will always be the daughter of Niles and Frances Berisford.
I am the founder of The Center, I was adopted at the age of 7 by strangers after the death of my parents. At the age of 15 I had a beautiful baby girl. She was placed for adoption. Taken from me by my adoptive parents. The same parents who wanted a family so bad they adopted 5 of us, but still wouldn't let me keep my baby.

Mission Statement: We believe every adult has the right to know their genealogy. We support open adoption, and the right of every adoptee to search for their birthparents. We will assist them in that search in anyway we can. However, we also believe in the right to privacy for both the adoptee and the birth family. Therefore, we offer a mediator service to make contact comfortable for all parties involved.

Television:

TV Show: We are working on a new idea and we would like your input. We want to produce a weekly reunion show to be aired on cable TV. We thought we would feature some reunions but mostly we would concentrate on the people still searching. Each week we would show the date, city and state of birth of people on our registry who are searching. NO NAMES will ever be shown. If someone thinks you are their birth child or birthparent, they would also have to register with us. After all facts had been checked out we would then contact you.
